Another option is to sleep in the truck bed and create a “foot box”.
I used a weather proof cover for outdoor furniture and cut of some excess fabric.
I rarely sleep that way though. Only if I arrive somewhere too late and don’t want to setup the tent.

I’ve been living in my Maverick for the past 2 months. Travelling California, Nevada and Utah.

Love the truck. Only wishlist item would be AWD for hybrid.

This is a hybrid XLT, no AWD. Standard tires (I'm burning through them before getting some off-roady). I've gotten stuck in sand a few times

Kamprite double cot. Not sure if it would fit someone above 6”. I’m 5.11. Fit fine, but not that much room left.

This tent also has a “lounge chair” mode. But yes, the double version of the tent takes up most of the bed. There is also a single version that takes up half.

Myself being 6'2" and 240lbs, I'd be just a tiny bit cramped living like that. But hey, more power to ya. Glad you're enjoying your truck. Awesome to see pics like these.

It is definitely “compact”. Lets just say that 😀. That bothers me a little less.

What is more challenging with a setup like this is that you are very exposed to the elements.
If it is dusty, hot or cold outside, you’ll be experiencing that fully.

i think a van or RV gives a bit more of a barrier against the elements that can be nice if you do this longterm.

Would love to be able to do this and go on a cross country trip. My wife wouldn’t have it though, she needs a hotel. Awesome set up and keep enjoying the Maverick!!

What rack did you go with and did it require any holes?

Take a sheet of plywood and cut it to fit BETWEEN the fenders and pull it out to use as an extension for the foot box.

@Luckynail

i went with KB Voodoo. They have a rack that fits the Maverick perfectly. No holes required. They also have clamps that go around the tonneau cover.

It is a bit expensive (there are cheaper ones I saw on here), but I did get a small discount to get closer to the price of other ones.

I picked the 10” rack, but it comes in a number of heights.

It is the most expensive part of this setup, but I am really happy with it.

brilliant idea to extend the bed a bit. So simple. I may just give that a try to have a bit more room.

That is so cool, I bet Ford will be calling you to do a commercial or web thingy for them. I hope you are traveling with another vehicle for safety. I would never have the balls to do that with a first year vehicle that is hybrid and only fwd. You are a brave person. BTW what kind of mpg's are you getting? (Just kidding)
