Hello,
I just purchased a 2024 Maverick hybrid to flat tow behind my RV and am having difficulty finding a shop that will install Demco base plate and Demco Stay-In-Play Duo braking system in the West Tennessee area. Was wondering if anyone else in the south east states has had someone install this Demco flat tow equipment on their Maverick. If so, could you let me know where you had your installation done? I’m willing to travel wherever necessary to get my Maverick set up for flat towing properly but would prefer some location in the Memphis or Nashville TN area or the Atlanta area. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just had my RoadMaster Baseplate and Equipment installed this week on my 2025 Lariat here in Florida you should be able to find a nice local shop to help with the install - I found my installer after checking with a few utility trailer and RV part dealers - it’s a pretty simple process just make sure you have every you need before you schedule the work e.g. all wiring including charge line, baseplate and tow bar - good luck I’d plan for the installation cost to be under $1000

I remain convinced that it is absolutely the best way to go for 20–24 Maverick. It is the easiest/ cleanest Insulation of all of the brands.

Unfortunately, the early style baseplate doesn’t fit my new 2025 Maverick.

So, I have the complete base plate kit available for sale for 2020-2024 Maverick ($400 firm). I live in the Atlanta Metro area.

Hey Scott - Here is what I installed to flat tow my 2025 Maverick AWD Lariat Hybrid - this set up works great

RoadMaster Nighthawk Towbar (includes the integrated elect cable between RV and Tow Vehicle and tow vehicle plug)
RoadMaster Baseplate
Charge Line (provided by RoadMaster)
RoadMaster Tow Kit (integrated safety cables, locks and hitch pins, carry pouch and Towbar cover, light wiring kit for Maverick)

Hope this helps let me know if I can further assist you

Morning Dave,

Many thanks for the quick response. couple of follow up questions if you have time.....

1. Does your truck have the "adaptive cruse control"? I understand that makes a difference with regards to installing a face plate, and potentially limits faceplate options? Correct?

2. what breaking system did you install on the truck?

3. your thoughts on why the Road Master over the Ready Brake II, system if you even considered it?

Thanks in advance for your input.

regards

Scott

Hey Scott

My 2025 Maverick does have ACC and the initial concern was the ACC Radar location being Ford moved it during their refresh for 2025 - I started talking with RoadMaster and the other two major baseplate suppliers in early January 25 no one had a clue how this would affect the install or design. RoadMaster was able to get a 2025 Maverick in their shop to do an evaluation before starting the design and found their baseplate could go behind the ACC Radar which was great I see Demco decided to go around it and their design was a little scary looking so I decided to go with RoadMaster - I still have my BlueOx set up for my 2004 Jeep TJ but after their failures on earlier Maverick model I decided to steer clear of them for this application

I do not have a aux brake system I was looking at invisa-brake from RoadMaster but decided to not go with any at this time everyone I know has had issues with adjusting these brake systems no matter the brand regardless what the OEMs say I may reconsider my decision at some point after some more testing is done with the 2025 Maverick my install recommend waited because of what he has seem my diesel rig has no issues stopping pulling this little truck

good luck and keep in touch as you continue your due diligence

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the feed back and additional info. Since my motorhome is not a diesel, not sure if I have the same stopping power as you. My motorhome is 39 ft Newmar, however, I'm leaning towards taking your approach and holding back on a decision (at least temporary) on a brake option, until more is learned.

I had a 39 foot Thor Miramar gasser before the rig I have now I had no issues stopping with my 2004 Jeep Wrangler TJ behind her with a aux system 👍

Dave, without a aux braking system on the tow vehicle, how do you get the brake lights to come on the tow vehicle, when you brake the coach?

Yeah it has the cord from the RV so the brake lights turn signals and brake lights work as well as the marker lights so an aux brake system isn’t required for all the lights on the toad to work correctly

Dave,

so sorry to be dense here, but when you say " has the cord from the RV so the brake lights,,,,,,"
what exactly are you referring to? is that part of the Combo Package Kit you installed.

this is the first time I've set up a tow vehicle in a Motorhome.

Thanks

Scott

Yes that’s it Scott - I think your RV should have a 7-pin socket this will plug into that then plug the other end into the toad 👍
