Well today my Maverick hauled just over 1,000 lbs of gravel. She was riding low for sure but seemed to manage. After shoveling it all out, she sprang right back up. Not sure I’ll make such a quick recovery in the morning! 😂

Did you load that bag yourself or did it come that way when you picked up the rock? One of the reasons I hung on to my 91 Ranger is hauling stuff like 5/8 minus crushed rock that just tears the crap out of the truck, even with a bed liner.

So the bag they sell, I bought it from the last project where we added gravel to our landscape. I just saved it and reused it here. They have a hopper that they hang the bag from, then they use an end loader to scoop and drop the rocks into the hopper which fills the bag. Then pick that up with forks and drop it into your truck. Honestly it works really well. Also didn’t beat the crap out of my bed. My dad and I used to lay a couple of tarps in my 1990 Ford Ranger to protect the bed as it was all paint back there. That was a great get around town pickup, even with the wimpy 4 cylinder.

Man I wish my local rock place had a bag like that. They just dump a scoop (1000 Lb.) in the bed.
Dude did tell me I could get their trailer if I reserved a day ahead (free) when I asked about loading a scoop into a Maverick. That was before I took delivery of the Maverick while I was still in my Silverado.
My old company used to get glue chips in bags like that.

That's pretty cool. The ranger's bed liner protects what it covers, but no matter how well I try to clean out the hinge area I hear horrible grinding when I close the tailgate. I'll have to ask the guys where I buy my rock if they have a way to load a bag for me.

Yeah outside of a few strays on my tailgate it was a super easy clean up. Once the pile in the bag got low enough I just dragged it out and to the landscaping. The bag is a pretty convenient option for sure. Gravel can just beat a truck.
