Did they ever make it? I assume this would be a Ford "accessory", not a Matchbox/Hot Wheel.

Hot wheels and Matchbox both made a first gen die cast. The trademark just requires them to pay Ford for using the name and design. As far as I know Ford never produced die casts it was always companies in that business that produces them with a license from Ford.

My brother and I both have mavericks, he's got a '24 and I have a '25, our dad has a '25 tundra which he is adamant is the best truck ever made and we made the wrong purchases, because now that he has a toyota, toyotas are the only vehicle anyone should buy.

I also drive a '25 diesel ram 2500 for work which i always tell him is a real truck not some toy truck like he has. When i see one on the road sometimes i like to take a picture and sent it to him and say 'wow this thing is tiny, i can see over the roofline of the tundra from my ram, it cant be much bigger than the maverick'

I've been buying and having gag gifts sent without telling him and get a chuckle when he calls to gripe about it and i just tell him theyre coming straight from ford. I got him a RAM hat, i bought him a maverick waterbottle from ford (which he gave to my brother) and a few days ago I bought him a little diecast maverick and had the seller write 'thanks for being a loyal ford family' -- he called me when he got the little matchbox and i said it sounds like he's driving and i asked him where hes going.. he said 'to the ford dealership to complain about getting so many gifts' i said be careful you might see something you like over there.

So when the new gen matchbox comes out i'll get him that too.
