I know I am only one of four people who feel this way, and to those who believe in them, I say God bless you, but why install a tailgate device to let it down. I am 76 and have had 2 lower back surgeries, open heart surgery last year with 5 bypasses, and I have ZERO trouble letting the tailgate down. Yes, if someone has problems in the upper torso or something, I understand, but for able bodied men, it just does not make sense unless laziness comes into play.
I thought $25 and 10 minutes to install was worth not worrying about my two young children getting hurt.

Wind deflectors and the hood protector have recently been eliminated from my wishlist.
I've got a nice big fat hood protector thing on the front of my truck that I really can't defend but the truck is Alto Blue so you hardly notice it and it might actually serve some practical purpose.

I spec'd the XLT Lux so I would keep it a long time. It's well equipped, so I feel I shouldn't have to spend a ton more. I still will, but that accessory must deliver. I'm trying to keep it at 15, not 30 add-ons.
I think that trim level is the absolute 100% perfect mix of value and practicality. I went in a different direction and love my truck, but I can't find fault with your choice.

Thank you, I did a lot of homework on this one. The XLT Lux payload came in at 1501 since it's fairly stripped down. No bed liner, 360 or sunroof. I wanted to leave room for a truck bed cap. Also left some room in the budget (and 2750 private offer helped too).

That is precisely why I put the seat covers on mine. I don't want to mess up my brand new seats after getting all muddy/dusty after going riding, or greasy from working in the shop. Seat covers are cheap compared to replacing the seat material.
Apparently an entire generation of italian americans once agreed with you...

BS accessory: floor mats. Vehicle already has good floor. No need for floor on top of floor. Reduces cabin height and leg room by 1/8" - bad for tall drivers; could squish legs while driving.

Alternative: "Custom Logo Wireless LED Projector Car Door Step Courtesy Welcome Lights" immediately makes truck a luxury vehicle; doors work just like on Bentley. Never mistake your truck for another one again after door is open. Tells passengers how much cooler your vehicle is. Shiny. Bright. Fancy. Only 6 AAA batteries.

BS Accessory = $150, Alternative = $16. Save over $100. 🤑

My most unnecessary accessory is the short antenna LOL. Purely for aesthetics b/c it actually results in worse radio reception out in the country

I have a couple of granddaughters running around and would hate to see them get smacked by a rapid-fall tailgate. Also, there is a point to be made about the quality feel to a tailgate that doesn't slam down. Same as having self-closing drawers in your home. I enjoy the feel of a gently lowering tailgate every time I use it, so for me, totally worth it.

Floor mats protect the carpet from snow, mud and water being almost a daily occurrence in winter. Those who use their trucks for off-road or work in dirty environments would tear up a carpeted only vehicle in a few months. Also, easier to clean and replace than OEM carpet.

T shirts make great cheap seat covers...just slide 'em on and off. Put them in the wash...
