Just wondering if anyone out there has tackled the installation of the new-ish Maverick Black Oval Kit from Ford: https://www.ford.com/product/maverick-black-oval-kit-p4000207161

I really would like to put this on my 24 Tremor - the emblems are black, but have bright chrome not smoked chrome around the edges. Not a huge deal, but I think this will match the truck a little better. Watched YouTube video from @Redneck Garage that showed how to do it without removing the bumper cover, etc. but looking to see if anyone has tried this specific mod that replaces one in the front and in the rear. Assuming that you can easily get to the one in the back via the tailgate service panel and it should be pretty easy to do that one, but haven't tried it yet either.

Let me know - mainly worried about breaking the clips on the grill bar and also hoping to see how it looks on a truck someone has already done.

Thanks!

I have a kit on the way. I used my Ford points and 20% code last week, and watched that video a couple of days ago. I'll update when I get to the swap.

I haven't seen many good pictures of the ovals and have a feeling they look better in person. Can someone out there with the BAP option take some good photos?

I got these etsy for 22.99 a set which includes the front and the back. They look better in person and they're holding up great... so far! They're a perfect fit and took 5 minutes to install.

+1 on using overlays. Much less $ and effort. Here is the link I used from ebay:

AREA 51 FITS 2022 Ford Maverick Truck OVERLAY Decals Front Rear & Steering Wheel | eBay

If you look on the site I think you will find a Black Ford logo closer to what you are looking for. I put mine on in December and they still looks great after a Maine winter.

Let me know how it goes and post some before/after pictures if you don't mind.

Those do look good, but the product I am looking at "smokes" all the chrome around the edges. Haven't found any of the vinyl ones that change that part.
That's the same reason I bought them. I've used overlays in the past and they work well, I just want to get rid of the chrome. Overlays can also look a bit cheap up close.

Ty! I saw a Matte Black plastic piece that covers the outside chrome on Amazon. Maybe others can jump in if they also ordered this?

So, that's $53 for vinyl overlays and plastic trim that may last 10 years vs. factory ovals that will last the life of the vehicle and an extra rear camera for $112. Pick your poison.

I was glad to find something I thought was worth spending some of my points on. The time and effort to install them is no big deal to me, and I can always dump the OEM on eBay for more than half what I paid for the kit.

Glad you found something that hopefully works for you! The OP was regarding his install concern and I was letting him know there's other options out there. I respect your decision on your poison, swallow that pill. Let us know how your install goes.

I respect yours as well. I'm just trying to justify the cost!

Thank you! I get your point of view as well and I might make that change one day too. Please post pictures when you're done because Ford does a really bad job on their accessories website with images. It's hard to tell how the end product will actually look.

I have the black matte plastic cover (try to insert pic - it is raining ) and was looking for the smoked chrome option lol The Black Oval if it comes close to the putco black Platinum Maverick SS inserts would be exactly what I want and well worth price of admission ;) Take pictures

eta ~ the matte plastic cover does it's job well for a chrome delete

Cheers
