Mangoal, FitcamX or something else?

Have. 2026 Ford Maverick. Any recommendations on a dash cam that doesn’t affect CarPlay? I like the FitcamX and Mangoal but it looks like you can’t use the camera and CarPlay at the same time.

The FitCam X recommended for my 2025 Maverick Lariat is awesome, front and back crystal clear and sufficient memory to keep long enough. I have it in both vehicles and the Maverick version disappears behind the mirror so it is streamlined into the windshield. But does it play along with CarPlay? That’s my big issue If I can’t use CarPlay at the same time as using the camera than I’m not interested.

No issues there in either vehicle and I am using an iPhone Pro 15 in CarPlay. But the infotainment system is another story. No issues in my 2026 Jeep, but correcting the independent decisions of the Ford infotainment system is another issue with major distractions when it wants to dictate what I am listening to or displaying maps it chooses in my 2025 Lariat.

I’ve also been looking at the FitcamX but haven’t seen anything about it affecting CarPlay. Where have you read that?

This is what I found. It may not be as bad as I thought.

Good news! The FITCAMX Dash Cam for Ford Maverick 2022-2026 does not affect CarPlay or Bluetooth for normal use.
A few things to note:

• CarPlay & Bluetooth: Work as usual — no interference from the dash cam
• WiFi viewing: Your phone can't be connected to both CarPlay and the camera's WiFi at the same time, but you can switch as needed
• Auto-recording: The camera records automatically when the car starts — no need to keep it connected to your phone

I ordered the fitcamx, haven’t received it yet. Do you recall what fuses you connected to?

If you ordered the same model, I ordered it plugs directly into the mirror assembly. However, if you want it powered up all the time, and I do not recommend that even though it is can be an advantage if somebody hits you while it’s parked, then all I can tell you is it needs to be in a fuse circuit that is constantly powered. I did not wire it that way.

Do you have pics of where it plugged in? I sent them pics behind the cover in my 25 Lariat and they said I didn’t have the correct connection.

Hmmm, you sent them pics before you ordered the dashcam, right? This photo is the box and model # of the one that they told me to order.

Good point. Most wireless CarPlay setups rely on Wi-Fi to stream data. That’s why you don’t need Mangoal dashcam to be constantly connected.

You just drive like normal with CarPlay connected. You only switch to the cam's Wi-Fi when you actually need to pull a file. It is just like connecting to a wireless printer. Everything else stays independent.

You can absolutely use the FitcamX or Mangoal while using CarPlay because the dash cam records automatically in the background without needing a live phone connection.
