Any Lobo owners take there truck into a soft tough car wash ? How do the wheels stand up to the touch wash ? Any scratches or scuffs ?

I have a 24 ECO AWD XLT FX4 and I’m toying with the Lobo idea …

He1l no to a touch car wash.

Touchless and wipe it dry with microfiber towels.
Some wheel cleaner as needed (mostly the fronts while bedding in the pads).

I do my truck washing in my garage using this “aircraft” clean/wax concoction.

Not familiar with the “soft touch” process - but I think the paint on my turbofan is the toughest paint on the truck! And so easy just to wipe clean….like a dinner plate compared to a muffin pan:)

Soft touch are the sponge strips instead of spinning brushes. Both have the dirt of a thousand previous cars embedded in them. Friend of mine went through one behind a truck that had been mudding. The grit in the strips scratched the hell out of his truck.
Sounds like a great place to take a well worn muddy truck and increase the patina of well worn.

I once scrubbed clean a roommate’s wok not knowing the importance of the hard earned “grime”. He freaked out for a moment & then forgave me for my well intentioned ignorance!

I've heard about waterless car washing bur never looked into it. I assume the vehicle should first be washed (e.g. touchless car wash) to remove grit to avoid scratching the paint. Yes or no?

My spine had a chill run up it when reading carwash! :)

Coming upon on 2 1/2 years, and mine has only been washed in either the driveway, or using just the pressure sprayer at a self-serve, when it was way too cold to attempt washing by hand, and I wanted to rinse off as much salt as possible until I could wash it by hand. - And I sprayed it with a salt neutralizer/remover before doing so. (BTW, Salty-Dog works really well at removing & neutralizing the salt.)

Yes, if there is grit on your vehicle - waterless car wash is not appropriate without washing car first.

That said, most waterless wash/wax folks don’t let grit build up.

I live in the Sonoran desert and can go many many months without even driving through a puddle. My issue is dust and sometimes pollen. Maybe some Valley Fever fungi if a haboob stirred up the topsoil.

So I live in the rare clime where I can first dust my car off with a “swifter” and use the waterless car wash/wax in my garage.

If I take my truck on a dirt road (seldom) or drive in the rare rain & hit puddles before they dry up - I’ll wash off my car in the driveway. I have terribly hard water so I spray the wash/wax on & wipe/buff off before water spots form!

I have not and will not ever subject my truck to an automated car wash.

It's not just the damage these things do over the years to paint, I truly enjoy spending time in the driveway cleaning my family's cars.

I soft touch mine at least once a week. Wheels have dulled but a quick hand wash brings it back.
