How much tighter is the lobo steering rack? I want to auto cross my truck. Can anyone help me with my question? In the future, I might think about ordering a lobo steering rack.

The steering rack in the Ford Maverick Lobo is significantly quicker than the standard Maverick, featuring a steering ratio of 14.2:1

By comparison, the standard 2024 Maverick has a ratio of 18.1:1 (though some specific trims vary slightly). Mathematically, this makes the Lobo rack roughly 21.5% faster or "tighter."

It’s essentially the same steering "quickness" found in the European Focus ST, designed specifically to handle the increased lateral grip of the Lobo’s tuned suspension.

The numbers I saw were far less different. At the time I ran the numbers and it's only ~5% quicker.

Ford essentially built the Lobo using a "best of" list from their performance and international catalogs:
Steering Rack: Euro-market Ford Kuga.
Brake Calipers: Euro-market Focus ST (dual-piston).
Brake Rotors: Lincoln Corsair PHEV (larger diameter).
Strut Mounts: Mustang Mach-E

I've been doing track events for a very long time and my advice would be to do at least a few events with the truck completely stock BEFORE doing any upgrades

At least 70% of the fun of motorsports is improving your skills. It's always best work up your skills before you start messing with your setup

Yeah, just go do the autocross. I've done one so far this year. The one today got cancelled due to weather.

Motortrend winter 2026 issue with the maverick as truck of the year lists the regular mav with a 16.2 ratio rack, and the lobo with a 15.3 ratio. So almost 6% quicker. I knew I saw it somewhere......

edit, corrected mag title

Dangit. Yes, MT, not C&D. I had a pile of magazines out at the time. I'll edit the post
No problem I also have that Motortrend 2026 Car,Truck and SUV of the Year issue and look at it a lot so much so it's falling apart. :)
