Leave with dealer or keep and sell?

Ordered Maverick Hybrid XLT November 2021. Order got cancelled and re-entered as 2023. Couldn't wait any longer and had to buy new vehicle and almost forgot about Maverick. Low and behold it has shown up. I've received $4,350 credit due to price increase on 2023. Is it worth keeping and selling at this point or just letting the dealer keep it? Once tax is factored in I would basically need to sell it at MSRP or more -

Depends on demand in your area if it's worth buying to sell. You'd have to sell well over MSRP $5-10k to make it worth while, IMO.

You should be able to get some offers online prior to buying it and see.
With price protection, it seems like an easy flip for profit. Or offer the dealer a 50/50 split for whatever they get over your price on the next buyer...

If used prices up your way are still high, you could trade in what you have on the maverick?. I don't think buying & selling it will be an issue as high as demand is for the hybrid, especially if you're not looking to make big profit. Has to be someone close waiting or looking for one. Probably someone on the forum that would take it off your hands at sticker price

Hard decision for you. Probably best to check the used car market for your area, autotrader.ca or even a used car dealer to see what they will give you for it. You have already factored the 13% sales tax, but also think of the registration and car insurance for the short time that you will own it. Is it worth the hassle if you are only going to gain a couple of hundred dollars.
For our U.S. friends, dealers in Ontario are not allowed to sell above MSRP. Last summer, I saw a USED XL (12000 kms) for 10000 over msrp. My salesman said 'that's terrible' we can't sell new for that.
That $4350 Ford credit is very interesting to me, my 22 now 23 hybrid XLT lux still does not have a VIN or tentative production date, but my dealer/salesman say it should be very close. They bring up the subject of price protection whenever i talk to them. They say that we have a contract price OMVIC sales agreement, they just don.t know how the figures will be adjusted to get to the final agreed on price.

If the reseller market isn't offering a good price I have thought of a solution that may work; if you know someone that wants to buy it privately in Ontario.


Where your rebate credits automatic or did you have to get them added and can you plese share the details of the $4,350 in credits ?
