Well, actually, my keys fell down an elevator shaft right between the opening for the doors, and all the way down to the basement in a hospital. Security found my keys, but the FOB was smashed. All I have left is the key itself.

Besides the Ford dealer, where else can I get one? I know they’re not cheap!

Depending how smashed the FOB is, it may still be readable when placed in the indention in the bottom of the center console. If so, you can buy a replacement FOB for around $30 and use your broken FOB and spare FOB to program the new one, assuming you have a second good FOB. If you buy an aftermarket FOB, be sure to get the right one for your Lariat The ones with remote start are not compatible with a truck that doesn't have remote start for example.

Out of curiosity, can you post a picture of the smashed FOB?

The smashed fob was in tiny pieces, as the elevator crushed it. The only thing they retrieved was the key itself.

Ford charges $229 for the FOB, and the service dept charges $60 to program it. Too expensive for me!

Note to self: leave FOB in pocket ;)

Yeah, and note to self-keep hands out of pocket. My index finger got caught in the key ring, and went flying out of my pocket when I pulled my hand out of my pocket. The keys landed just perfectly in the space in between the elevator and door, and quickly fell down to the basement. The elevator crushed the FOB many times before security was able to turn off the elevator and retrieve them.
