Kayaks on Elevate Bed Racks

Hello, I've done some recent work to my Maverick.

after installing the Elevate bed rails (along with my Bakflip hard Tri-fold tonneau cover, I added the Elevate Bed Rack.

Installation was simple and straight forward. I did lower the crossbars by one notch to make it more inline with my aftermarket roof rack, but still not perfect - but ok for now.

Keep in mind the Elevate cross bars are thick - like over 4"! None of my existing clamp on roof rack accessories fit. I ended up order some t-slot kayak saddles off of eBay and they work fine.

Previously I was using the hitch bed extender from Harbor Freight. Works great, easy to load and unload the kayaks, but I did miss not having a rear view because my tailgate (and rear view camera) was pointing downward.

Now I'll have a couple different options to haul around stuff ..: and I picked up 2 more kayaks lol.

This is a perfect example of how the Elevate makes room for all your gear. The roof rack/ Elevate duo is a brilliant setup, especially for kayaks. We get asked a lot about this specific setup, and your build really showcases exactly how it works and looks.

The cross bars are a bit chonky and that equates to better stability for your attachments. We've recently introduced a line up of Elevate attachments like a kayak carrier, bike carrier, and cargo baskets that work perfectly with the cross bars, as well.

I thought about adding a bed rack, but just decided to stay with the roof racks for my Kayak. If mine was as long as yours, may be a different story.

Also an Elevate Rack owner, it works well for me. Only downside is the inability to put the last panel of a trifold cover against the back window.

For my Kayak I went with a Thule T-track mount, since I also have a rack mounted bike rack and cradles would not work.

That’s what our plan is , since I bought the 3 flip bedcover without rails to add the racks in the back.
Our kayaks are short so I figured I would save $1000.

I used Elevate rails BUT the rear uprights I made myself. This way I load from the rear and use the front Yakima cross bar as my kayaks are long.

But you'll need to file down the metal tab. It's too wide to fit in the t-slot.

Hmmm....I have the Bakflip G2 and am able to fold the last panel up against the rear window.

I have an MX4, different design I guess. It won't clear the supports for the cross bars with the rack in the lower of the two positions, which I use. Looks like yours are in the high position, my rack may be a older version, it only has two positions that I'm aware of.
