Tire size is done in forscan. Also, you might want to check your fuel capacity. Mine said 16.5 gallons versus 13.7. My transmission was set to manual not automatic.

If you are finding these PIDs in Forscan - welcome to ghost PIDs that were merely duplicated from some other vehicle and never removed & not used.
Search for Battery to discover all the size info PIDs that aren't used either.
You'll find another PID for fuel tank that is correct. Though, the tank actually is 16.5 or bigger. So you'll find a PID with the size to use in calc's.

In Hybrids:

13.8 is just for math's sake.
It's not the physical gas tank size.


13.8 x recent MPG x %fuel = miles to empty number you see on the dash.


The miles to empty is ALWAYS a hypothetical. But it's a very conservative (under stated) value.

You almost always have 40 to 80 more miles to actually running out of gas. But as others say, while you can drive past zero, do so at your own risk.

FWIW I personally have refueled with 16+ gallons three times.
