Been keeping track of my calculated MPG vs what the car is saying for a while now. After 12 tanks I found what the average was and went in and adjusted the AFE Bias. Actually had 13 tanks, but one was so far off and over vs under I ignored that number. Looking at articles her am seeing most people adjusting to 950. So my calculated 958 seemed to be "the norm". I adjusted the AFE Bias to my calculated 958, but will continue to check the numbers to see if I need to adjust again.

Did not look further in Engineering test mode, though should have, to see what other adjustments could be made. Does anyone know if you can adjust for tire size in the Engineering mode? My snow tires are 17's vs 18's and I find that the speed in the truck is off (high) vs GPS numbers by 2 to 3 MPG at 75 (keeps changing between the 2). When I bought the tires I was told at 65, my actual speed would be 64.75, thought close enough, but being off 2 to 3 MPG is too much. In addition to speed being off, both MPG being off and MTE is off. When I travel north snowmobiling towing I sometimes get down to 10 - 25 MTE, but the gas gauge is still showing about a quarter of a tank. Would be helpful for fill-up stops if these number were closer. With these numbers being off, I am getting gas earlier than I did towing with my Escape...

NOTE: When you are going into Engineering test mode, you will get several items that you have to OK (IE, full power to accessories, fasten your seat belt, etc.). Watch the screen closely for the entering Engineering test mode to flash onto the screen between the other warning items flashing on the screen. It should flash at around 5 seconds, well at east for me it did, then OK those items on your screen and the Engineering Test mode should show.

I also readjusted my AFE bias recently and was also wondering if the Engineering Test Mode allowed us to make any other useful adjustments. I have been here regularly for over 18 months and have not noted anything in that regard.

Thanks. Guess I will have to run my tire request by the service department at my dealer.

You can use this tire calculator to determine the best tire size so the circumference is the same as OEM. That won’t change your speed and should not change your gas mileage.

Thank you for the information, I'm still waiting for the confidence to order my interface cable so that I can enable the speed limit sign recognition program. I have already downloaded the Forscan program on my laptop.

You don't need Forscan to adjust the AFE bias. Changing as I did, is suppose to give me closer MPG and MTE numbers from the vehicle.

Oh wow, that i didn't know, I have been averaging 38.6 mpg in Eco mode according to my fill-ups, my display shows 41.1 mpg. I do remember hearing something about changing the backlighting to a different color years ago when the Maverick first came out, now that's something that I would like to try.

I adjusted my AFE a while back to 961. Seems to track the MPG better. I track the mileage with a
spreadsheet (OCD anyone!) and the average differenced between the calculated MPG and the displayed MPG is -0.05 so I would think that is close enough for hand grenades.....
Little over 1 year worth of data at 27000 miles. I got the twuck March 2024.
931 gallons of gas
28.66 mpg calculated (average)
28.71 mpg displayed (average)
Road Trips Road Trips and more Road Trips - No problems so far other than the entertainment
system locking up periodically and then rebooting itself.
Great little "Twuck"!

It's a color test, and icon test - it doesn't let you change anything.

But why does any of this matter ?
I’ll likely be putting on the Faulkin Rubitreks.
When my very efficient Michelin primacy’s wear out.
Got them on my old 2004 Escape, they are quiet and didn’t change its 17.5 mpg’s one bit.
They weigh only three pounds more than the primacy’s. And are so close to revolutions per mile I can Fagetaboutit.
I’ll prolly go up a tad to the 235 60R 18’s and take the four pound weight penalty.
I bet my mpg’s don’t change more than one mpg.
If they do so what.

Tire size is done in forscan. Also, you might want to check your fuel capacity. Mine said 16.5 gallons versus 13.7. My transmission was set to manual not automatic.

You are a hybrid, I am EcoBoost. So for me the 16.5 would probably be right. Thought it was 16 though. lol Will have to check my manual.
