January 2023, after my 1997 GMC Sonoma failed its state inspection, I went to a local Ford dealer to talk about ordering a Maverick. The response was that the 2023 order book closed in one week and come see us in July to order a 2024. June 2023, went back to the dealership and the salesman seemed unfamiliar with the Maverick and had no sales materials.
Soon learned about Ford Build & Price web site. July 17, 2023, sent my unicorn build - XL Hybrid (Atlas blue, CoPilot 360, hitch receiver, bed mat) to three local dealers. By accident, ended up at a different dealer with no 2023 rollovers and good allocations. Was also the first customer to order a 2024 that day. I expected to get the truck April or May at the earliest.
Went through all the normal tracking and production issues (build date pushed back, one month in production - assume fixing the issue with the lights). All is said and done, picked up the Maverick Saturday. Have added the bed storage cubby (driver side), Mabett mudflaps, and floor mats (WalMart special). Been exploring all the new features - obviously, the Maverick is an upgrade from the 97 Sonoma.
Throughout this process, MTC has been a tremendous source of information. Just wanted to say thank you to the contributors.
No picture - there are no significant modifications - looks like a blue XL
