Have driven vehicles for over 60 years and never had to replace a windshield. I'm now on the 3rd windshield with my Maverick. Are they more susceptible to cracking? Or has my luck run out!

I will shortly be on my 3rd windshield, too. This is less than a year in on my '25 Lariat. The first one took a huge rock on the highway, the second one just cracked all by itself sitting in a parking lot. When I can afford the 1k, I will get my 3rd one installed.

I agree, it does seem thin and poor quality. I am getting chips much more than any other vehicles I've owned. When the light shines on it, i notice a crackling on the surface.

First windshield I had to replace was my 1992 Ranger when it was 6 months old. Next was a company supplied 2006 Dodge Caravan, twice, once by the company then by me after I bought it from them. Next was 2011 Kia, bad judgement buying it. 2014 F150 2 times. Wife's 2017 Jeep. So NO they are no more fragile now that ever just more debris on roads to be kicked up.

I’m a farmer so I travel on a lot of gravel roads. I also live in an area where they sand the paved roads in winter. After one year with my Mav, I haven’t had any chips or cracks in my windshield

I asked one of my buddies who's family has been in the automotive glass business for decades and his response was "no, we've not seen any more Mavericks in than any other vehicle, especially for the kind damage you're talking about not related to a rock or an accident"

I live in Florida, and a big problem here, is all the pickup trucks with the big, wide, wheels sticking out beyond the fenders kicking up everything to the vehicles behind them. Most states have laws against trucks without mud flaps, or wheels outside of fender protection. In Florida, anything goes!

You're correct, I had forgotten about that. When the first windshield was replaced I was amazed at how much clearer the view was without all the chips and nicks. This last replacement was with a 3rd party windshield thru safelite and not a Ford OEM. Haven't had it long enough to compare chips and nicks.

Two years in, so far so good regarding cracks but I will say ever since new, the windshield looks like it's been peppered with debris, as if it's been driving on the highway non-stop for years. You know what I'm talking about? It's not totally clear, it's like the glass itself has grit in it. I'm not gonna do anything about it. As long as it doesn't crack.

In AZ, never had a vehicle that did NOT get a broken windshield. Constant construction seems to be the culprit. That being said; the Lariat windshields are a problem.

I had to have the windshield replaced in my '22 Maverick right after I bought it,pebble thrown by a car.It hit the passenger side by the pillar and almost immediately a crack formed across the windshield. About three months ago I got another spider web chip from a pebble, luckily I was able to get that repaired by Safelite.

It's a common issue reported at the Bronco Sport forum as well

It may be the angle of the dangle...... Angle and height of windshield plus aerodynamics. It is getting hit at a different angle and possibly more often. I do not think it is necessarily just the material quantity/quality. My 6 cents worth!! (non-existent inflation )!!!

Might be a luck issue? I drove like 100,000 miles between needing to use the spare tire, then on my way home with my brand-new Honda with 9 miles on the odometer, got a puncture at about mile 40.
