I ordered my Maverick back in January 2022 and was rolled over to a MY23 model on September 16th and just got confirmation yesterday (10/28) that my order is scheduled for production for the week of December 12th, 2022.

During this process there’s been a few changes I’ve wanted to make to the truck such as adding the bedliner back in as it’s no longer included in the XLT Lux pkg. I noticed as well that the 4K tow pkg I spec’d for was also missing from my packages in my order on Fords website(still waiting for my official window sticker) I went in person 2 weeks ago to try and get the bedliner added on and my dealer told me that my order was being previewed by Ford and that he couldn’t change anything to avoid delays or issues and told me to wait until it’s been scheduled to add anything onto the order.

Fast forward to yesterday, I got the email that my Maverick has been scheduled as previously mentioned so I proceeded to email my dealer. My rep has now told me my order is locked and that changes can’t be made right now. I emailed him back asking if this is temporary and he confirmed thats normally a temporary lock but I have heard stories that it could be permanently locked in to what I have now.

My question is to anyone who has had their order fulfilled or who is waiting on delivery: Were you given the option to make any changes before the actual production took place? Ford lists on their FAQ that “once a vehicle is scheduled for production no further changes can be made”. I’m a bit concerned and rightfully somewhat frustrated thatI might not get the truck I originally wanted.

(Apologies if anything in this post does not make sense or if this is just a dumb question, I’ll do my best to clear up any confusion.)

That sounds like Ford has already answered your question. You should get the truck exactly as you ordered it, as specified by your DORA that you signed.

Agreed, figured it was the case but wanted to see if there was hope for me yet. I can live without the Bedliner but I’m hoping that the 4K tow pkg is still on my order as it should be. Thanks for your reply.

First, I am not certain. However, I think there is a difference between being assigned a production "week" and an actual production date with associated blend number. Now what can be changed, I don't not know. No trim changes, obviously. As I recall, Fordvideoguy may have said that paint color, for example, can still be changed. Probably easier to drop something rather than add. Cannot change to a constrained item also.

If you have the time, a review of Fordvideoguy tapes may be helpful.

One of the only changes that I have heard can be made is the color. Since paint it paint, and every truck is going to need paint. I guess changing the color doesn't toss a big enough wrench in their commodities formulas to make it a problem for a truck that has a production week/date assigned.
But no changes possible to other things that would be more "material" based like a bed-liner or other things that would require a "part" to be added. Part removed......now that would be an interesting question. Since I would assume Ford would love to have that part for someone else.....

Thanks a lot, I’ll keep that in mind and look at those videos
