While the Maverick may be small compared to a 3/4 Ton or 1 Ton pickup, it is much larger than one that was sold in the 40's and 50's. A Crosley pickup could be hauled in a Maverick, weighed 1250# and had a payload of 500#. I'd like to have one to play with.

I remember seeing a few Crosley sedans when I was a kid-the company would have out if business by then. Never knew they offered a pickup, or that the gas mileage was so good. They were tiny!

Crosley production ended in 1952. The 44 cubic inch/724 cc engine helped with the gas mileage.

take it with a grain of salt, though.

prior to EPA ratings, mileage claims might be most charitably described as "fanciful".

As in, they might get that going from Denver to Salt Lake, or maybe even Las Vegas.
