I finally ditched the "every 5K" routine and am just following the Ford Oil Life Guage thing on my dash. Gotta believe they know what's best for the engine they built. My oil life is actually extending well past the 5K mark with they hybrid so I am saving $$ in the long run. I don't think I am being penny wise/pound foolish on this. Oil is better than it used to be.

Full synthetic is recommended for the hybrid. Blend for Ecoboost.
i did not know full synthetic was the recommended oil for hybrids. if that is the case then why did Ford put in what i believe is a synthetic blend at the factory? i just agreed to use what the service advisor said was the Ford recommended oil & filter, did i make a mistake?
is this full synthetic oil recommendation mentioned somewhere in the owners manual? also whats the advantage of 'full' synthetic vs 'synthetic blends'?
with my low annual mileage usage case(5-8k miles p/yr) i anticipate having to change the oil based much more on the calendar (at least annually) as opposed to the odometer or oil life monitor readings anyway.

Yes. The manual specifies this. I'd get it redone on their dime.

Was it 0w20? Was it Motorcraft? Because Motorcraft no longer sells a 0w20 synthetic blend, only full synthetic.

i honestly dont know if it was motorcraft 0w20 full synthetic or a synthetic blend or not, i was told that it was a synthetic blend.
i have been getting mine and all my families Ford vehicles serviced at this dealership for many yrs now and didnt question my service advisers advice as to which oil & filter that he said was recommended for my hybrid. im pretty sure it was 0w20 oil that was used.

i dont want o go down the 'rabbit hole' here but if regular oil changes are done will it really make that big a difference full vs blended synthetic as regards long term engine wear/performance? especially for hybrids? which one would think would have much less wear & tear since they are supplemented by the electric drive motor as opposed to a ICE engine that runs all the time?
