I placed my first order with a small dealership 18 months ago and an other with a bigger dealership 8 months ago thinking I’ll trade the first for the second. Well the second order has come in and the first order has just shipped. What should I do?
I prefer the second order (red) to the first order (blue).
Should I pass on the blue and let the dealership have it?
Should I buy it and flip it? Carmax? Another dealership? Private sale?
Will I get the price reduction because it was a 2023 order that was pushed to 2024 on the blue one?
Both are XL Hybrid with just co pilot, trailer hitch and mud flaps.

CS,

Hybrids are more popular than EV vehicles so you have something people really want. If you pass, the dealer will probably mark it up $5-10k. First, look at what other XLs are selling for on AutoTrader and Car Gurus. I would not use Carmax because you will only get wholesale value. To get retail price sell the red one private party. Then keep the blue Mav, the profit on the red will lower your cost.

As for the choice of red vs blue, Hot Pepper Red looks orange in bright sun so you may not like that. Atlas Blue is a nice deep blue that I think makes the Maverick look better. Here is my video showing 2 new Mavs I received including Atlas Blue. It has a lot of still photos so you can really see the color. I hope this helps. Ask any questions here or on my channel.

The days of buying it and flipping for a profit are over, since you prefer the one that's came in, that's the one to buy. The dealer will have no problem selling a basic hybrid with those options. It's a win, win for both of you.

Same for me, sorta. My loaded Lariat hybrid arrived (almost) in February but is held up in a lot close by waiting for a gas tank fix. Just in case, I ordered another Maverick and it's scheduled for this month. I'll probably pass on the first one unless I can get some advantage out of it. For the trouble I should be demanding a special offer for the one that's been sitting on the lot.

If the first one is the 2023 to 2024 check with ford to see if you have the private offer and what that brings to the table.
