I wish more government spending went toward things like cheap, useful, efficient vehicles.
Mmmhmm, versus the $20 billion worth of military 8 mpg giant war vehicles they get "for free" so the military can say, "we don't have stuff, police took it, need to buy more stuff" all at tax payer expense?

That kind of spending is a drop in the bucket.

ngl I'd kill for a stripped HMMWV like that in the summer. That would be sick. I'm not about to be on a fail video breaking myself trying to jump out of the back of that mrap tho lol.

Seeing the police Maverick behind you is going to have criminals shaking in their boots ( as they leave it behind in their rear view mirror).

A billion here, a billion there and pretty soon you're talking real money!
This is probably how people will talk when shopping for groceries in 2025 if inflation keeps up, lol!

IMO high speed chases over 100mph really aren't worth it anyway, that's what radios are for have someone ahead cut them off and setup spikes and what not. And a Maverick is going to do 100mph with ease.

Regarding acceleration, the Maverick Ecoboost AWD is 3700lbs/250hp vs say a Tahoe 5.3 V8 at 5600lbs/355hp is 14.8lbs/hp vs 15.8bs/hp, so the Maverick Ecoboost should leave a Tahoe in the dust.

And we've seen the Maverick AWD is surprisingly capable offroad:

You won’t see the Maverick being used for patrol duties unless the department has a “No-Pursuit” pursuit policy. The Maverick will never be pursuit rated by the manufacturer. To use an unrated vehicle in a chase opens the department and municipality to an enormous amount of liability in the event of an accident.

Its really a shame though, as only issuing ridiculously huge inefficient vehicles to cop is a purely American thing. In Germany where they have the Autobahn, the police are still generally just issued cheap efficient Opel or Volkswagen wagons. A chase well above 100mph typically ends up being more dangerous than is worth it, as at that point they just need to get air on the target and use radios.

We have a police officer a few houses down with a desk job that just works from home, he doesn't do street duty, and yet for his company vehicle they issued him a giant loaded up V8 Tahoe and I'm sure he expenses all the fuel. I'd rather my tax money have gone to hook him up with a Maverick XL Hybrid.
