Hybrid unresponsive accelerator pedal @ 75mph on highway

I had the below happen to me this morning, I wrote it up this way as it's how I intend to inform the dealer of the conditions under which the issue occurred... What else can you think of I should tell them?


Vehicle: '22 Hybrid Maverick, XLT, Luxury package, NO CP360

Conditions/settings: 28*F, driving on highway, approximately 75mph, cruise control set, accessories on: AC, Defrost, (68*), fan speed 3, driver's seat heat 1, radio on, headlights on automatic (on), 200+ miles to empty. No CEL, No pre-collision warning

Issue: While driving on the highway, the truck started to slow down, when I attempted to accelerate, I received no response from the accelerator pedal. I looked at the dash, noted the truck to be in "Electric" mode, I moved over to the shoulder, came to a complete stop, (brakes felt responsive as normal) attempted to accelerate again, and nothing. I moved the dial to "P", and back to "D", and still no change. I shut the vehicle off, waited about 5 seconds, and restarted the vehicle, and was successfully able to drive.

I had something similar happen with lots of codes popping up and a Pull Over Immediately warning. Did you at least get a check engine light? Lots of similar happenings in THIS thread.

I haven't seen any of the common issues related to the battery cable, this is the only instance of it happening.

I will look at the thread posted above though.

I did call my service advisor, they offered to take a look at it, but because it threw no hard codes, they'd have to try to duplicate it, being that in 13K miles it's only happened once to me I'm not confident they could.

My decision was to wait and if it happens again, then have them look at it. I've tried to chase problems that happen intermittently, and if you can't duplicate it, it's like shooting a penny, in the dark, without a flashlight.

I didn't get any codes for the first couple of weeks. I then started getting PCM de-energizing too early, finally dead. Good luck!
Same symptoms as mine?

My driving is city. I had strange alarms from the security system.
Sorry for the issues you're having. My Ford dealer has a zillion vehicles sitting around waiting for parts, mine being one of them. No, no loaner cars. Glad I didn't sell my Crown Vic

Yeah, I'm looking at that now, I'm pretty calm under pressure, fortunately, this was pretty easy, but had it happened 20 minutes later, or again during my commute, it would've been more dangerous, and could've resulted in an accident.
