Threw caution to the wind, bit the reduced mileage bullet etc

Gave sport mode a real trial, finally.

What a cool kick in the pants it was to do a short trip with lots of stop signs to chirp tires.

Likely won’t do often, but it was peppy and fun. I guess actually more than I thought it would be.

Give it a try!

It makes sure ICE is on and ready from initial throttle input and gets out of it's efficiency only ways for a good time but that good time starts to run out of steam around 30-35mph. Still it's fun around town if you need to get punchy or aggressive.

Find some winding roads too - the steering is tweaked a bit, besides accelerating out of corners.

From trying to watch the scan details while having fun in the mode - it appeared the ICE RPM did actually go up, and drop down, on those shifts.

So unlike a sound speaker only method, you do seem to feel it just a bit. I can't tell if a speaker is going also.

But the traction motor torque is much higher while engine is running than would normally happen.
So while the engine RPM has a range that I'm sure is around the best of the torque curve, what the motor is supplying smooths out the shift points so it's mainly just engine noise, I'm not feeling much in the seat.
Maybe I need to retest not on winding roads where the lack of bolstering has you moving around already.
