We’ve flat towed our 2024 Maverick Hybrid XLT a few times now. I get a stressed when enabling Neutral Tow mode.
The instructions after enabling Tow mode say to “switch the ignition off”

Off is the position where you can remove the key. I can switch it to the I position but not the Off.

Has anyone figured out what the Off position really is?

If it isn't letting you remove the key you're missing a step. Looks like it doesn't let you remove it in off?

Follow the instructions exactly....and the ignition (and accessories) are OFF and the dash should be telling you you are in Neutral Tow. A lot simpler with my Lariat push button, but OFF is OFF...not accessory. Leaving it in accessoryis where things go wrong.

It doesn’t let you remove the key in OFF. That’s written in the instructions. I expected it would have to be left in the ignition.

The ACC mode where the instrument panel menu shows up is when the key is in position II. After entering N Tow mode the key can only be turned to position I, not 0.
So my assumption based on the only available position while being towed is to turn the key to position I?

Your screen should verify that you are in NT.... whether that is 0 or 1, I have no experience as our trucks are Lariats without keys. At that point, when it tells you youvare in nt, don't mess with it.

If you get the notice after following the procedure above, the you are fine. The point is, never leave it in acc for NT.
