Hybrid MPG Penalty with OEM Cap / Topper?

I've never owned a truck without a topper and I will be ordering a 2023 Maverick on 8-2-22. I think the OEM topper is about perfect for it's role. Not crazy about the price though.
I'd like to know what the gas mileage penalty is on both the Hybrid and the EB with the topper installed? Anyone tracking this?

Can't imagine there would be much effect. From previous experience with the trucks that I've owned, highway mpg actually seemed to get better with a topper. Less wind resistance maybe? Also, I'd wait to see what Leer & ARE do as far as bed caps go. The OEM Ford SnugTop cap is way too expensive. It's kind of ugly, too, imo...

I sure agree with you on the price! I'm not crazy about the look either, but I think the raised roof design is necessary to obtain decent utility.
I'm definitely waiting on any cap purchase. I'm hoping someone makes a cheap aluminum shell with large rear window for rear visibility.

I got the leer cap and where I was getting 40mpg I'm now getting around 38mpg.

Doesn't Leer or other vendor have a cap coming out soon that does not have the high lip on it? Thought I saw/read about one recently.
