1- I don't want to use the Ford provided 12v wire for the Curt trailer lights adapter.
2- All the Youtube videos have people running wires up to the engine bay (even on hybrids?!?!)
3- So what's a better way to run a power wire from the battery out to go under the bed to the rear?

There is a pressure relief flap (aka mouse access door) to allow cab doors to be rapidly shut. Plus possibly a rubber grommet that can be cut open to. Pass wires.

I'm looking at running wires for a project as well. I was thinking about throwing wires over the fender wells but that's not my style. I want to follow stock wiring so it will be easier to secure. (and for my own mental well being it was done "professionally" :p )

Getting around the fuel tank/heat shields seems easier on the passenger side. Rear of the cab behind the seat there is a wiring harness going out a grommet (both sides, orange tape on the driver side). From underneath I could see around the fuel tank where the passenger side comes out so should be easier to manage.

Then follow the existing harnesses to the rear.

Thanks y'all!

The videos I watched for running wires to the engine they went driver side by loosening the under body panels. Then they just zip-tied the wire to assorted random other wires or connections.

I saw that giant oval grommet from the headliner thread and will try to snake something out that .

The passenger side one looks way easier to access!!!!

I removed passenger rear fender liner, not too terrible. There is a small hole with a plug near the cabin vent. It was easy to push wire in through that hole and grab it from behind the seatbelt trim piece behind the rear seat. I cut a slit into the round rubber grommet, pushed the wire through it, and after I got it all setup I put it back and slathered some "liquid electric tape" all over it to keep bugs out. (looks like black rubber cement).

Then there isn't much up above the fender, ran the wire to the rear taillight with a zip tie on the one cable above the strut. That stuff on the upper left is the rear taillight.

Cat passed on last night so I didn't finish up- but I'll need to run the black power wire from passenger rear down under tailgate over to the power module which gets installed on the driver side (cord is short to driver taillight but passenger taillight wiring is longer).

Thank you. Totally out of the blue, 9-10yrs old, he came into the living room panting and drooling. Heart attack or blood clot? Took him to emergency vet, they heard fluid on the lungs. We talked and agreed to let him go but he was gone before they could prep for that.

So I dropped the splash shield and spare just to get more space. I got things run and closed up the passenger tail light then realized the wires would be caught up in the spare. So I opened it up and pulled the passenger wires to route them above the spare tire winch handle tunnel.

The black wire is power from the battery under the seat going down passenger rear fender then to the trailer light module which I mounted below driver side taillight.

Here's looking towards driver side.

I'm VERY IMPRESSED with this taillight module- I tested it before the power was hooked up and the tail lights still work 100% fine without power. That puts my mind at ease- won't worry about losing rear lights if the fuse or wiring or module have issues.
