I bought two keys.
They both worked.
This one> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FW6TH13
And this one> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09J1523LT
That's great that both keys worked for you. I also have a '23 XL. So, I'm banking on the fact that since the Strattec 5923293 (Ford blank) plastic head key worked for you, the non-Ford branded plastic head key https://amzn.to/3HNZe5h recommended by Redneck Garage will work as well.

My only hesitation is that the non-branded plastic head key on Amazon has overall poor reviews, including one which specifically said that it didn't work on a Maverick. Fingers crossed.

And Redneck Garage, I think a number of us owe you a beer or two for all the great information you've given us on this thread!

There has been many questions on the keys for our beloved trucks and as a locksmith I can say if you lose all your keys you will more than likely have to tow it back to the dealer until our software is updated. HOWEVER I have confirmed on board programming works if you have the original two keys ( two programmed keys ) - you can program them yourself - that has been mentioned here before. Do this NOW !!! before you loose one of the two keys LOL.

On the XL or XLT trucks you can either add a flip remote or just a standard key ( possibly you might want to add two cheaper keys as a backup ) On the Lariat only the fob will work however the emergency key is not required. I thought I would put links to which keys to purchase and you can take them to a local locksmith just to have cut - as long as you maintain two extra you are in good shape adding in the future.

XL and XLT Keys - I have posted multiple links in case one is out of stock -
Remote headed Keys - $23.99-https://amzn.to/40xtAk7 or $29.95 https://amzn.to/3RpQJAH or $23.99 https://amzn.to/3WVGxAX

flip.jpg

If yours has a remote start it would be this key - 49.99- https://amzn.to/3wNgDVG 89.95 2 Pack - https://amzn.to/3jsaBq7 45.29 - https://amzn.to/3WUcmdl

remote.jpg

Plastic Headed Keys -
16.95 for 2 - https://amzn.to/3HNZe5h 43.21 Ford Factory Blank ( same Chip ) https://amzn.to/3jklzOD If you are wanting to do a "hide-a-key" this one is the one to use due to it being waterproof.

To program you insert the existing first key, turn on ignition, count to three, take out put in existing second key turn on ignition - count to three - take new third key - turn on ignition - leave on - you should hear a chirp and a message key was successful.

For the Lariat -
58.95 - https://amzn.to/3XT89b7 109.95 - 2 Pack - https://amzn.to/40m014U 37.95 - https://amzn.to/3XaDs0h For the Fob to work / be programmed it doesn't matter if the key is cut or not - it only opens the door if the battery is completely dead.

prox.jpg

If your Fob does not have remote start for the 2023 Lariat it is this one - 38.99 - https://amzn.to/40ihWsZ

nostart_.jpg

To program - open center console. Pull up felt cover - place first existing fob in depression - push start button ( without foot on brake ) ignition comes on- count to 5 - remove fob - push ignition off - put second existing fob in depression - push ignition on - count to five - remove fob - push ignition off. take new fob - put in depression push AND HOLD start button down - you should hear chirp and message - key programming successful.

All in all pretty simple procedures and a few dollars and effort now can save you hundreds later !
wow. Thank you

My experience does not have a happy ending. I bought the keys from Amazon but have been unable to find a locksmith to cut them. A-1 locksmith told me their cutting heads are 1mm too big. If anyone knows a local locksmith in the Carrollton Tx area who can cut them drop me a note

Has anyone confirmed yet if this method will work for a 24 Lariat with remote start?
Also, if this method works, can it be used to install the wireless keypad with on the door?

I purchased this key off of Amazon (X AUTOHAUX 315MHz N5F-A08TAA Replacement Smart Proximity Keyless Entry Remote Key Fob for Ford F150 F250 F350 2015-2019 for F450 F550 2018-2019 for Explorer 3Buttons with Door Keys 49 Chip https://a.co/d/8pULIYm) but i couldn’t find someone who was able to laser cut they key for a decent price. So I took apart one of my factory keys using a flathead blade and very small Allen wrench (it’s actually a hex bit but didn’t have one smaller enough) and then did the programming sequence but after I took out the second key I put the blade from it into the Amazon key and got it to program. It took about 10 tries or so. So if I’ll have it programmed and if I ever need it in the future then I’ll get it cut. Total cost was like $17

Has anyone found a locksmith in the San Jose, CA area that can cut Maverick keys? I've struck out so far.

Problems ranged from not being able to cut the groove into the side of the keys (they can only cut the edges like a traditional key) to not having the 2023 Maverick XL codes to put into their machine (even though I gave them the tag with the bar code and number that came with my keys) to not being able to cut a groove thin enough.

Have you tried a Home Depot type hardware store. Home Depot stores and even our local corner hardware store, in my area, Ontario Canada, have laser key cutting machines. All they needed was a matching blank blade and an original blade to copy from. The machine 'scans' the original blade and then copies it to your new blank. I've had two done, not for the Maverick, but for a Honda and a Kia. Similar style, cut on the inside, not the edges.

No, I haven't tried that yet. I was going the local locksmith route. Good suggestion. I'll try that next and report back. Thanks

Just successfully got it to work after several attempts on my '24 Lariat. Used combo of methods discussed here but pretty much @Redneck Garage's only sped it up a little, (only waited until chiming stopped instead of a full 5+ seconds - I did not time). The Intelligent Access works as advertised, still not sure about the remote start as I never use it. Got the single remote in OP's link from Amazon and still says not for 2024 Maverick, but it does work. I think that's because the '23's did not have remote starting from the remote and they have not updated their '24 information.
Edit: after reviewing remote starting procedures and resetting remote starting to on, that system works as advertised also.

@Waterick , can you confirm this Single Remote (link) is the one you purchased? There were a couple different single remotes linked in the OP. I would like to be sure I'm getting the right one for my 2024 Lariat with Intelligent Access. (And hopefully this is the one you got, because the other is now unavailable.)

I tried
this one from eBay, but it only partially worked. Like you, I had to shorten the length of time the original keys stayed in the recess. The programming was then successful, but it will not work with Intelligent Access and the fob has to be physically in the center console depression in order for it to start the vehicle. In short, it kind of works, but it's effectively useless.

Thanks,
Andrew

Yes, that's the one I used. Note that the FCC number under the removable key matches the one advertised. The aftermarket remote shows no numbers, but looks identical minus the Ford oval. Shipped from Wireless Canada.
