I grabbed these heated seat cushions right before a mountain trip for the rear seats. Only to find out they couldn't be plugged in the back, I thought there was a car lighter socket and 400w outlet in the rear. Whoops.

Then I scoured Amazon for some kind of adapter, that could convert the two prong outlet into the male car lighter and found this:
It's quite bulky and means I'd have to leave it under the seat in storage.

I eventually grabbed a car light extension: Which I guess the extra cable also has to be stored under the seat, but I really don't want it running to the front car lighter.

Are there any other similarly priced options

  • Wire the seats directly to the fuse box and install a switch?
  • Cut the plug off and wire your extension cord to the fuse box?
  • Install an after market 12v plug in the back wired to the fuse box.
The adapter you found is kind of a counter intuitive. Going from 12 VDC to 100 VAC then back to 12VDC when 12VDC is available all though out the vehicle.

you could try something like this.

Cellet AC to DC 12V Output Converter. AC/DC Power 110V- 120V AC to 12V DC Car Cigarette Lighter Power Converter. AC to DC Female Adapter (Not for Air-pump, Compressor, Vacuum cleaner) https://a.co/d/3oxfGwU

My XL has a 12v power point in the rear of the console. I don't know the amperage, though.

Oh, that’s probably why I thought that I had that also. In my one week of shopping there was so much information to learn across all the models. Not all of us know every nuance of the truck we are getting especially when we are unfamiliar with the make and model, the irony is I have the upgraded luxury package and therefore cannot just plug in heated seats 😂

There's your solution. For the most refined stock look, get an XL.

Problem solved. Glad we could help.

My 22' XLT has a rear console 12v outlet. The owner's manual recommends a 15 amp, 180 watt limit since the fuse is rated at those thresholds.

I bought a Wagan heated seat cushion since I don't have a luxury package. It consumes 40 watts with 4 amps of DC current.
