How did this happen?

I can’t remember how I heard about the Maverick. I figure I saw an article in my news feed, but I haven’t seen anything recently without searching for it. Is Maverick the best we’ve never heard of?

Same here. I had seen the rumors of an upcoming compact truck from Ford. Later on saw a video and pics of a highly camouflaged one, at that point it was "suspected" of being the new upcoming Maverick. It was camouflaged with false rails above the bed underneath the camo blanket to make it look like an SUV. September 2020 video HERE.

But then on June 8th I saw THIS VIDEO and the vehicle looked great and I learned it was hybrid with est 40mpg, under $20k, able to carry 4x8 sheet goods, it sure checked all the boxes for me.

So I priced out my Jeep at Carmax online, sold it to Carmax the next day for $4k more than I paid for it, and contacted my Ford dealer to order a Maverick that same day. It took them until the 14th to figure out how to order a Maverick.

And then the wait began. I'm scheduled for production Oct 4.
