I'm considering some kind of hoist to put heavy stuff, like my 200lb generator, in the bed of my Mav.
Ramps are an option but it's still hard and maybe dangerous for me.
A hoist like this one seems like it might work. Happy to hear your thoughts/experience/recommendations!

Personal experience with hitch mounted accessories is that they all kind of suck. I can see how something like this would be useful if you need to load something heavy and then unload it somewhere else, but does it have to be hitch mounted? After reading through some of the 1 and 2 star reviews for the linked item, I wouldn't trust it.

I don’t see where the hoist pivots to allow you to set it down in the bed (or more like on the tailgate). It’s load limit would match the max hitch weight and gate limit.

It looks like you would have to remove the thetailgate to use. Might work, but not very convenient.

Right, I think everyone has brought up good points. If anyone comes up with a suggestion on how to load and unload a heavy item like that generator, please let me know.
