I have 1.3K miles on my basic XL Hybrid. Up to this point it has been impossible to come to a complete stop smoothly. I attributed this to new brake pads and grabbing. I was just going to live with it and figured that's just how this car drives.
Then I happened to try turning the traction control off. It's one on the buttons anterior to the shift dial and parking brake button. Turning traction control off fixed the jerky stopping issue. I can now come to a complete stop smoothly.
Come to think of it, my driveway is inclined and taking my foot off the brake to roll uphill on idle has smoothed out some as well.
And here is the kicker, turning the car off and back on again, the issues above have remained fixed. I believe the traction control turns back ON after restart with my current settings. I have since toggled traction control off and on, but the truck still drives smoothly.
I'm not sure how or why it worked for me, but I'm reporting my one experience here, in case others can benefit from it.
