Thanks for having me. Retired Marine looking to maybe trade my 2020 Escape for a 2025/26 Maverick. I really like the Escape, but miss trucks. I have had 4 F-150s, but when I retired a 2nd time, I looked for a little more economic vehicle. I have a Bass Tracker so wanted some towing capacity. My Escape has the 2.0 and 4k towing package so that is what I would be comfy with in a Maverick. Been looking at Mavericks for a while and one thing I'd miss that my last truck had was the humongous space when the rear seats folded. Mavericks have that plastic tray on the floor that eats space. That space came in handy.

I was set on a 2024, but see they made changes to fuel delivery and I like that. I know the Maverick is considered "low priced" but still a good chunk for me. I'd like an XLT with 4k package and everything else is icing.

I am sure I will find the right vehicle.

AFAIK the Escape never had a 4k tow rating, maybe you were misled?

The 2025+ Maverick does offer the 4k tow package with either powertrain
Thanks, not misled, forgot it was 3500 pounds vice 4k. Still no slouch for a small SUV.

"The Class II Trailer Tow Package for the 2020 Ford Escape SEL is designed to enhance towing capabilities, allowing the vehicle to tow up to 3,500 pounds when equipped with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine. This package includes essential components like a Class II hitch, wiring, and cooling enhancements to support safe and effective towing."

I need to make a comment about your engine choice.

Hybrid engine gets around 35 mpg or better.
Ecoboost gets 22 mpg.

I still can’t understand why people are Gaga over the eco boost. That’s a personal opinion, not an attack on anyone.

I hated buy gas last year and now I hate it even more. Why buy more gas than you need to?

Anyway, I have 23k trouble free miles on my hybrid.

I am not ruling out a hybrid, but I think I'd like a test drive before making a decision. Both my Wife & I have been impressed with the 2.0 as it is peppy. It pulls my aluminum bass boat with ease. On road trips, we get 30+MPG but yes, around town 24-25 babying it.

There's lots of reasons many people prefer the eco boost. Performance mods, personal preferences, the list could be very long. Lots of folks lives/preferences aren't consumed with mpg

Always a wise decision to try before you buy.

My '24 FWD hybrid will chirp the factory tires if you jump on it from a stop or even a low speed roll. I'm not sure if that's the case with the AWD version. The engine + electric combo gives you torque right now. If efficiency/MPG is a key consideration, the hybrid is certainly worth a test drive, IMHO.

Well, I am still debating about getting a truck now or waiting til after the new year. I am also debating the 2.0 vs 2.5. Only must haves are AWD and tow package and the 2026 Hybrid adds about 2k, but that mileage is looking good. Today was the last day for the Escape loyalty 1k and military $500. Maybe new incentives soon.

I am close to this dealer offering an XLT FX4 for what seems an unrealistic price. Why would it be so heavily discounted. 2026 XLT FX4
