Looking at the Maverick and really liking the possibilities, saw one the other day and the ground clearance looked much less than 8.3”. Didn’t look any higher than my Kia Niro. I did a search but did not find actual measurement from ground to “frame below the door”. Also interested in clearance from ground to bottom of door.

Appreciate the info.

I know that’s what the specs say but what is the actual measurement?

I don't know where the 8.3" clearance is measured. Not at the door frame. My Blizzaks may add about 1/4" compared to my summer tires. You may have to scroll to see the entire image.

Yes my truck needs washing.

So that apparently means that there is about 3 inches of framing, exhaust and/or whatever hanging below the door rails?

I don't know if it's correct, but I like this explanation from https://suspensionsetups.com/garage/ground-clearance/

"Ground clearance is the distance between the ground and the lowest part of your vehicle’s undercarriage; excluding the tires, wheel hubs, brake plates, and mudflaps.

Depending on the design of your car’s undercarriage, the lowest points can vary. It could be the axle, the differential, the rocker panel, the exhaust, or the suspension arms."

It’s generally lowest poin In center area of undercarriage, on live axle trucks, the pumpkin (diff) , on independant it’s usually assumed the same approach angle applied around tire as forward (applied in all directions)from this point down center area of vehicle , looking for low point . Generally the exhaust or a crossmember in the area of a diff.in other words , not the a arm or trailing arm right next to tire but more like about a foot away from tire suspension area depending on model and factory tire size.
This why a manufacture can claim an increase for a new optional tire size .
This is exactly why off roaders cram the largest tire we can under our rigs.

Rear exhaust pipe before the muffler is the lowest spot in terms of how clearance usually gets measured. With that being said the low hanging front bumper plastics had me putting a lift on pretty quickly.

Yup. I'm leaning toward a lift kit, but don't want to f up my truck! I am going to have to do a bunch of research as to what the best/safest options are, with price being somewhat of an object. I don't have the tools or knowhow to do a lift myself, so I'd have to figure in labor costs, etc..
