Having surgery on Thursday

Had a "minor" stroke on May 15 while the doctors were looking at my heart. Recovery has gone very well, only a few effects still lasting. As a result though I'll be undergoing open heart surgery on Thursday June 15 to repair several valves that aren't working as they should. Great surgeons at St, Lukes hospital to take care of all loose ends. Good thing I was lucky enough to pick up my Maverick in February. Just had my kids install my Bakflip Mx 4 and a divider yesterday so my wife will be able to drive the Maverick and put groceries in the bed.. Good luck and prayers to all facing difficulties and hope their Mavericks are delivered soon. It is a great vehicle!

At least you have a brain. Got my first MRI with a doctor who also was one of his first MRIs to give. To our horror, the skull was empty.
He was so green, that he figured I would be the rarest of the rare, born without a brain, yet college degreed.
He played around with the computer read a manual and got the contrast
mostly figured out, to find nothing abnormal.
He did poke around tell he found a lump on the base of my skull, which was just a charley-horse frozen muscle.
Speedy Recovery to all, was going to ask Army Ret. Why he just didn’t go to BAMC over St. Luke but realized there are more than just a San Antonio St. Luke hospitals named St. Luke.

Started radiation for prostate cancer last week.
I used to drive a van that transported people to doctors and such. I now just count my blessings. Prostate cancer is minor compared to some medical issues.
I always think of this when I feel down: "I felt bad because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet."

Took longer then initially thought because my blood pressure spiked several times. Fixed a valve, but splitting your chest for surgery really hurts. I’m in
The hospital for a for a whole longer. My wife is driving the
Maverick and enjoying it. Drive

Good new is, surgery went great! They got it all, no long-term cognition loss, getting my strength back.

Bad news, no schedule email All in all I’d say that’s a fair trade.

Well, I thought one more update was due. Got out of the hospital on the 22nd and feel ok. Repairs made are holding, had a problem with a fib that apparently sent my heart beat up to over 170 for while and that wasn’t fun. They tried to control with drugs but that didn’t work, I had to go under again to have my heart shocked and that did the trick. Heart rate that high is like having everything vibrating in your body at once. Anyway now 4-8 weeks to have chest heal plus a total of 4 to 6 months concurrently with cardiac rehab. So at the age of 75 we go on into the valley to see what’s there. No driving for the first month so my wife gets to keep the Maverick for now. She did say I could order another one if I really wanted, but I think I’ll stay with the Bronco Sport for now.

One thing I should mention and thank are all of the folks at Saint Luke’s Cardiac Center, they were all super from the sanitation workers and food service folks all the way to the docs and nurses. Could not ask for better treatment!

I have also found that the people in all forms of medical care these days are truely HEROs.
The ladies at the oncology center where I'm getting my radiation treatments are excellent. ALMOST (I stress that) make me look forward to the next treatment. Right now, however, I'm just looking forward to the weekend OFF!
