I had the center of my hood wrapped. I'm planning to have the roof wrapped but was trying to do it without dropping the headliner.

Are you referring to dropping the headliner to remove antenna?

I assume you had to remove headliner for the antenna and cargo lights?

I wrapped my hood, roof, the little strip that faces upward between the rear glass and the bed, and the tailgate insert. Oh, and also the grille bar between the headlights.

Speed2000 designed and cut the tailgate insert and mailed it to me for application. His work was excellent, and my application of it looks OK from ten feet away. He also designed and cut that front grill element, as well as various PPF elements that I laid down on the grill, bumper, hood and roof. I recommend working with him if this is something you are considering.

I documented some of the steps to remove the antennae and roof rails so as to accomplish the roof wrap here: Headliner, antenna, dome light removal | MaverickTruckClub - 2022+ Ford Maverick Pickup Forum, News, Owners, Discussions There are a couple of lessons learned in it that may be useful to avoid going down blind alleys, as the documentation available about what is between the ceiling of the cab and the roof rails isn't comprehensive.

Good luck!
Hi @Wilbur. Really like your customizations.

I'm thinking of wrapping my roof like yours. (My Area51 w/white wrap). Do you recall the size wrap you ordered?

Asking because pros say start with larger than the end wrap size.

Also, how difficult was it to get the wrap into the roof ribs?

Cheers❗

Hi, Pablo. I put together a thread that includes photos of the process that allowed me to remove the drip rails and the antenna. With these items off the roof, the wrap was not too difficult, even though it was the first time I had used vinyl wrap.

(1) Headliner, antenna, dome light removal | MaverickTruckClub - 2022+ Ford Maverick Pickup Forum, News, Owners, Discussions

The exact piece of vinyl I ordered was this 10' x 5' sheet, which I cut in half - one half for the roof, and one half for the hood.

Amazon.com: 3M 1080 SP10 SATIN PEARL WHITE 5ft x 10ft (50 Sq/ft) Car Wrap Vinyl Film : Automotive

As you can see from my review on that page, the very end of the roll had some quality defects, but I imagine that the seller / manufacturer usually provides pieces that are fine.

Each piece, the hood and then the roof, took an entire day to wrap, and I had my neighbor and my daughter lending me a hand. It was exhausting work because I had never done it before, and I went very, very slowly. I used the heat gun a lot, I did a lot of smoothing and pressing with the squeegees, and almost every inch of wrap had to be pulled up and re-laid again at least once.

The roof ribs do pose a challenge, but working slowly, standing on benches to be above the work, and having extra hands to hold the sheet tight and flat while I pressed it down into the valleys allowed me to finish the work. Being able to stand above the work makes a big difference, so a couple of picnic benches alongside the truck are a good way to achieve that posture.

In the end I was pleased with the result, because I did it myself. If I had paid a professional to do it, I would not have been completely satisfied. But as an amateur effort of my own, I am pretty proud of the work.

Good luck with the wrap, and post some picture of the process and final product!
