Not the first time I've ordered oil, but definitely the worst.

They chose to throw it loose in a bigger box and wrap it inside two plastic trash bags. Previously I've had it shipped in the box with the label clearly stating it's oil and not had any issues, or inside a box full of bubble wrap and stuff to keep it from being tossed around.

There was no evidence of a leak on the outside box, but as soon as I grabbed it I knew. I could hear everything loose and sloshing. The inside of the plastic bag was a disaster. There was no way to open this thing without making a mess.

It looks like a lot, but it wasn't even a quarter of a quart. Still, I asked for a replacement and they are sending one (another 3 x 5 quart jugs) for free. Please... mess this one up too so I can get more free oil /s (please don't).

USPS did that?
I recently had a FedEx delivery placed in a new box due to damage and some of the product was missing.
I would have thought that they’d treat that oil leak as hazmat and not repack and deliver.

Exactly why I shop local for any liquid in ay type of container. I use a local shop, costco, walmart, napa, autozone, wherever for my autos and motorcycle. I did order spray way glass cleaner from Amazon, total risk, but they encase everything in so much bubblewrap the only exception to my rule. All local shops were out of it so ad no choice.

Ladies in the family buy fragrances, smelly stick things and other stuff, all comes broken. Pretty hard to get a quart of oil to break open, but UPS/FedEx will find a way.

:ROFLMAO: Crap happens for sure. Personally I just run to WallyWorld for my Mobil One Oil. Go there a lot anyway as they have the best price by far for my Cheese Whiz.(y)

After too many similar messes, I no longer order any liquids online, except as a very last resort for something I cannot find locally.

I've bought a lot of 5 gallon jugs of Lucas "Hot Rod and Classic" oil from Summit racing and never had one problem with it arriving safely. (use this stuff in my '69 Dodge). It's all in the packaging.

I find that a lot of what I order is that loose box-in-a-box thing. Doesn't anyone train those people the proper way to package a product?

I worked in a warehouse for brass fittings at one time. We always packed it tight and then if need be boxed that box. We dealt with some very tiny 1/8 inch compression sleeves and those were always a pain to count and keep in a very small box.

I've been getting oil delivered for years and luckily have not had this problem. It's been Amazon-USPS and UPS. There have been other damages usually via some UPS drivers throw and go mantra.

That said there is no excuse for poor packing, glad they made you whole.

UPS. No way they could know as the outside box did not show any signs due to the plastic bags. Sorry, I should have specified I ripped the bag open because I knew it was a leaky mess inside. I didn't want to open from the top of the bag and try to dump it out risking more oil spilling either.

FedEx up here is a joke. By far the worst. Their drivers are reckless. Plus, they are overworked. So add in the already not so smart delivery driver willing to cut of 70mph traffic because they just have to make that turn... or tailgate people for miles that are already going speed limits with the fact they work 12 hour averages makes them pretty crazy. I've had them show up at 10pm blasting music from their vehicle before too.

But since you mentioned FedEx, they might have actually been the better route. I've had auto parts shipped through them before not even come in any packaging - like struts for an F150. Just out there in the open lol. So at least maybe they would have just kept it in the original box so you could clearly see it was motor oil and not to mishandle it (yea right lol).

Sadly, shopping local means some seriously overpriced stuff from Napa or a very limited supply from a mom & pop style local rural store. The closest big town is 120 miles away and there is no guarantee they have what I want in stock (nobody stocks this oil). Even when I used to live there and got cheaper oil or whatever I could find it was still an up for grabs type deal. Too many people in a smaller town that can't handle the growth.
