With a looking recession on the horizon (let's not get into why), are you pretty satisfied with downgrading or upgrading in a Maverick? My last vehicle was a 2014 Ford Escape that I was scared to drive Because I wasn't sure if it'll breakdown or not. Now I feel more comfortable purchasing and driving a newer vehicle.

I mean, only you know your finances.

If you need a truck and don't plan on towing a lot, the Maverick is a great all-around-er. If you want a hybrid with great cargo capacity, it's also awesome.

But if you're in a financial position where buying a new vehicle is risky, that's a much more important question to ask before anything about the Maverick in specific.

Not exactly sure what you are asking. As far as if this is the time to make a major purchase and take on debt, it really depends on your personal finances. And risk tolerance.

I look at the financial markets as my guide. They are in turmoil due to the uncertainty. The usual "standard of the world" safe investment, U.S. Treasuries, are under pressure due to lack of trust in the U.S. Trust and predictability are key elements in all relationships.

Personally, I would rather have cash on hand that I can control as needed and not sink it into an expensive purchase. We are witnessing an attempt to change the world order. The final chapter has not been written.

If you need a vehicle, then I's time to get one. Fine one at a dealer, or order one and wait a few months. Be sure to get an Extended warranty from Granger if you keep it longer then 5 years.
