I was listening to xm on my way home today as usual and when a crappy song comes on I'll channel surf for a better tune. After checking my preset stations with no luck, went back to the first channel I'd been listening to only to catch the end of a song I liked. I pressed the l<< button and it rewound to the crappy song I changed stations on in the first place. I was able to press the forward button a couple times until I got to the beginning song I'd just missed and was able to hear the whole thing.

I changed to a different station but it would not rewind the song that was playing any farther then when I selected that station. I went back to the original station and it would let me rewind back to the crappy song.

Anyone know what's going on?

I gotta laugh. Just stick with the 3 minutes of crappy. Live with it. Good luck.

The stereo is just awful - at all three trim levels.

Is it the app or the xm radio itself? I know on the app you can do certain things like that.

I don't know if this is the answer but most newer cars with SiriusXM, including the Maverick, have a setting that basically starts the song from the beginning when moving between channels or presets. If you look under the SiriusXM settings on the radio you'll see the setting for "Tune Start".

So, many times when you change to a channel you might think oh great I got it right at the beginning, but what really happened is the radio automatically started the song from the beginning and you can actually fast forward to real time. Now the thing is that it doesn't always work as you've probably noticed. I have no idea what the rhyme or reason is for when it works and when it doesn't.

In the case of what happened to you yesterday I'm thinking what probably happened is you were already on the station with the crappy song so it probably saved the preloaded information long enough for you to go back and still be able to rewind that song to the beginning. That's my best guess. Whether I have it right or not I have no idea but at the very least I'll bet it does have something to do with the "Tune Start" feature.

That's a Sirius problem.
