Gear selector stuck?

Has anyone else had any issues with the gear selector knob? Mine has gotten stuck 4 times in the last 2 months. Sometimes I start my Hybrid Maverick, press the break, and try to turn the knob from park to drive but the knob resists. Good news is that every time it happens I immediately restart the truck and the selector then works fine.

This is the first I’ve heard of this issue. The dealer was able to lock the one I test drove back in October. It wasn’t stuck but locked. I had to go back in and ask them to unlock it so I c9ould drive it. Wondering if something is locking yours.

Interesting. No issues with my shifter so far.

Love the feature where it shifts into park when the ignition is turned off or the driver's door is opened. Great safety feature.

I had this happen the other day. Are you pressing the brake pedal when you hit start? If not, then you're only turning on accessory mode and the shift knob stays locked.

I had my foot on the pedal, but didn't have enough pressure on it when I hit start and it only engaged accessory mode.

I think I just figured it out. My foot was on the break so that's not the issue. I think it's just going into battery mode. The ignition is finicky. If you don't turn it all the way and hold it long enough you'll end up in battery mode. I should have thought of that, but I've been used to push to start for a while and older firmer ignitions before that.

Gosh, forgot your's is an XLT using a hard key. Mine is a Lariat keyless-go.

But agree that the brake pedal needs to be depressed harder than normal (I discovered when I first started driving it).

So, is it now resolved? Just turn the key but not hold it in the start position for a long time?

Basically yeah. Turn it with force and hold for a second.

I had it happen once. Turned it off then on again and it fixed the stuck issue.

Oh and BRAKE it is spelled BRAKE not BREAK

mine stuck twice first time i finally got it to shift. yesterday no such luck. truck had to be towed to dealers. dealer is two weeks behind in repairs. hopefully loaner car today.
