I live in Georgia and am not required to run a front state tag on vehicles. My 23 Maverick did not come with a front bracket. If you live in a state that requires front and rear tags, did you get a bracket for the front? I want to run a college tag on front of my Maverick.

TIA

Yes, the brackets are usually included in vehicles ordered in states that require the front plate. They are no charge if ordered from the factory that way. Your local dealer should be able to order you one.

I don't live in a front-tag state, but in states that do, the front plate bracket should be included in the truck. And most dealers install them in those states, unless the customer requests they don't.

UP until the 2023 the front plate bracket was free if you asked for it, if you live in a state that requires a front plate, the dealer should deliver your truck with that bracket included. Somewhere I read it was optional on the 2024's if not required.

I live in a state that doesn't require a front tag (Delaware), but ordered one with the truck to put a vanity (non license) plate on. I didn't have to pay extra for the bracket, though I think I remember hearing that might be changing. My dealer didn't put it on for me, but I figured that I'm handy and I should be able to put it on myself. (And with probably more care than someone who is trying to install several in the least amount of time.)

Yes, I had to drill into the plastic bumper cover (the horror!!!). /s The two holes in the black part of the bumper cover were easy because there are dimples molded into the plastic to use as center locators. The other two holes I had to hold the bracket in position to mark and drill through the body-colored plastic.

All was going well until I got to the plastic rivets to mount it to the holes. I realized that the plastic rivets that came with it you have to pull the pin like a pop-rivet. Unfortunately my only pop rivet gun is for metal pop rivets so the arbor didn't have large enough holes for the plastic. I ended up using two pliers, one to hold the head of the rivet down (in hindsight I wonder if I could have used a loose socket to make that part easier and provide a leverage surface for pulling). And the other to pull the plastic pin. After grunting and groaning a bit I was able to get all four pins pulled enough to fasten the frame to the bumper, but not enough to pull the pin apart at the designed weak point. So I used some wire cutters to trim the pin close to the head. YMMV.

Interesting I never heard of plastic pop rivets.

Front plate is required here. Front plate bracket, wrapped in plastic, was on the back seat when I left the dealership. At home--three hours from the dealership, I discovered the plastic wrap was torn, the hardware missing. In a text exchange, my salesman said the hardware is with the bracket. I repeated, it's not. He suggested I check the glove box & under the back seat. I replied, it's nowhere to be found & asked if he couldn't just drop the hardware in an envelope & mail it to me. No reply. Plates are on their way so I'll see if a nearby dealership will hook me up. Meanwhile, I'm gonna see if I can do something creative with zip ties at the grill... Here in Texas front plate is required. Seems like attaching the bracket is something the dealership ought to do on all vehicles... But, no.

Texas says we are supposed to run 2 tags but seldom see anyone busted for it. My Lariat showed a front tag bracket was SUPPOSED to come with the vehicle but I never got it.

Look under your back seat. That is where mine was.

Is there any reason not to do this instead….?

I didn't drill mine to the bumper, I drilled mine underneath. I used a nut and bolt to secure it and a little Loctite.
One day if it's not required you won't see any holes in the bumper.
The reflection on the plate cover is my garage storage rack.

As long as it is secured to your truck, it is Your Truck. Try not to cover too much of the air intake of the grill and if you have the ACC module don't cover that either. I'm unfamiliar with how @Mayoman did his, he would be the one to ask about that.
