The jeep had to deal with a steeper Incline.
The Mav was on nearly level ground and it looked like less snow depth.

I'll never challenge any vehicle with my Mav.
I'm just gonna drive it like the old guy I am becoming. :'P

Not sure if you're joking. Just in case you're not, it is in fact the same driveway. One angle is from my security camera and one is my phone on a tripod.

If want services to your home to arrive, that's the point. EMS/Fire wouldn't make it up that driveway either, and they'd have to risk foot traversal up while potentially having to carry someone down that as well. Delivery services would run the risk of getting stuck or either forcing them to traverse an uncleared driveway on foot while hauling packages or simply not deliver (can affect their performance review negatively). Tradesmen responding to emergency calls for plumbing, HVAC, etc., would be stuck below.
An excellent point, indeed! I never considered Fire/police EMS access. You are correct and I probably should've considered that. 👍

Other than the ground clearance being pretty low, what are the negatives? I'm interested because its wider and just overall bigger and the RTL-E trim (2021-2023 models) comes packed with features. Also I tend to trust Honda's reliability but then again, I haven't owned a Honda in decades. Open to opinions though.

I find the Maverick to be pretty good in the snow we have had so far... a max of 8" at one time.

My old Grand Cherokee is better in full time mode but it has a more aggressive tire tread design.

But the Maverick has been ok... and my bride really likes the AWD... first car she has driven with that feature other than my demo Rangers and F150's from my dealer days.

I've owned a '01 TJ on 32's and can confirm snow was not its specialty. But, it could tackle basically anything else without issue. Jeeps excel at more technical trail stuff and rock crawling, not necessarily mud or snow.

As a current owner of an AWD Maverick fx4 with oversized 3PMS tires and as a previous owner of a JK Wrangler, I can confidently say that the Wrangler is 5-10X more competent than the Maverick in really challenging snow conditions. I’m not talking about someone’s icy driveway with a few inch of snow. I’m talking about life-threatening, back country, deep snow conditions that full sized pickups have no hope of getting through. In those situations, the only thing getting through is jeeps and truggies with locking front and rear. Even 4 runners and Toyota FJ’s with their open front diff’s won’t be making it though.

The Maverick would be lucky to make it through the lower elevation on-road snow on the way to the trailhead of these challenging off-road trails.
