If I buy a Ford and then Ford sends me a private offer to use on another Ford vehicle, why do they need to verify I truly lived at the address I used when purchasing the first vehicle? There are valid situations where a purchaser may never have lived at that address, like helping your kid, who doesn't live with you, buy a vehicle. Hopefully my name still being on the title with that address will be sufficient "proof", but it sure does seem like Ford tries real hard to screw you out of that incentive.

You live at a different address now?

Rebates are tied to the address, not to the person. If the vehicle is being sold to an address different to the one the the private offer is associated with, the dealer will need to provide proof to Ford.

I had just bought a Maverick for my daughter. Ford sent me a private offer afterwards if I wanted to buy another Ford, but the first Ford I bought was registered in mine and her name at her address. I never lived there. So the dealer for this new purchase needs proof I lived there for me to use the private offer. I think I'm going to be Ok using the title as verification which shows both our names and her address, but it's just dumb and confusing. Tying the offer to the address is a stupid way to do it. It's misleading. Though, putting "this offer can be combined with other offers" is also misleading because it makes you think you can stack it with the Farm Bureau offer, or any of the offers, but in most cases you can't.

Good news! I just got confirmation the title will suffice.

This sends chills down my spine. I think it should be the person, imho. The chills? In Mississippi, we pay our county solid waste to pick up our trash. The bill is tied to the property, not the person, even though you set it up when you move in. A few months ago, I went to get my tags renewed and they say I have an outstanding solid waste balance. I have to pay it, or no tags. I have only lived at this address for 21 years and have never had an outstanding balance. Turns out it was from another person that lived here in 1997! This is why anything involving money should be to the person, not an address.
