Or you could take their financing and then immediately turn around and refinance with whichever bank/credit union you have pre-approval for.

They won't like it but they can't stop you.
That’s what I did. Went to PennFed the next day and refinanced for a much better rate

Ford SUX!!!!!
Ford sucks because as an OEM auto manufacturer they presently don’t offer a finance rate to match your Credit Union?

Drop into the Navy Federal Credit Union tomorrow as ask to purchase one of the cars or trucks they produce and see how it compares with the vehicles Ford manufactures..... oh, wait.....

Got Navy Fed @ 5.04%. Hoping to use AS leverage to get an even lower rate?
Sometimes I am an optimist. lol All around, Ford and most it its dealers suck, especially the ones who say they operate on Christian principle!!

There will be no leverage, Ford presently doesn’t offer a competitive finance promotion on the Maverick, and your Dealership will simply shop rates in order to broker the financing for you.

So Ford isn’t operating on ‘Christian Principle’ because they currently don’t offer a finance rate competitive with one of the absolute best Credit Union rates? The NFCU?

What rates do you exactly expect when you choose to finance a vehicle for 6 years?

I wouldn’t know about the check part. If you were to walk in with a check… i would not let them know about it until you’re with financing because then they will hustle you. I did this with my wife’s NEW VW Atlas. I didn’t tell them my method. Told them they have 30 mins to get me out the door or I’m walking. Went straight to financing and i worked with them. I walked out wishing the 30 mins. Paid cash and never looked back.

Also, i wouldn’t think that would be an issue because dealers love cash in hand customers. Just work the best deal without letting them know you’re paying cash until you get to finance department.
This.☝👍
When they keep pressing you about how you want to pay, you should always just keep replying you haven't decided yet. Always get the OTD price first. How you pay is irrelevant until you get to the finance room.

I am looking at 60 months. My dealer says they operate on Christian principles; $799 doc fee plus $800 in dealer add-ons!

How exactly is a doc fee and dealer add ons against Christian principles? I’m just trying to understand.

The 5.04% you keep quoting at the Navy Federal Credit Union is their rate for up to 6 years, not 5

Their 60 month new vehicle rate is 4.74%. Likely the best in the industry for a non-OEM sponsored vehicle loan.

Am curious cause i don't know but if you do that, when you go to your preferred financial institution to refinance, are you then financing a used car instead of a new car? If so, aren't the rates higher for used cars? I've heard people suggest this in the past and always wondered if you get stuck with used car rates as opposed to new car rates by doing this.

That is up to the institution. My CU used to do up to 2 years old as a new car, which was nice. But now I think because everything costs so much more, they will do up to 3 years old as a new car.

I tried to pay with credit card had 21 months 0% , but dealer would'nt let me, got offered 3.9 % at cu but over 3yrs and for 27k, & 4.9 over 5 yrs, ended up putting my hard earned cash down, and a 10k over 3yrs at 4.2, ask for auto pay discount, and discount for low loan to value ratio

I can finance you for 0% for the first year. But technically you're car would be mine so 🤔...

I'll keep it nice and safe for you until I get my MY24 😜

@fordvideoguy indicated that if you ordered a 2023, the dealer should honor the better of the finance rates available on the day you ordered and the day you take delivery. On his advice, I confirmed that with my dealer in writing.

I guess ultimately the dealership will decide if they choose to honor that agreement. Our only recourse if they don't is to go to court and fight. Not sure if you could legally stop them from selling your truck to someone else if you sue the dealer. And what could you sue for, emotional damage?

Ooof. I went in at 1.9% when I bought my Maverick in April '22 (ordered, no ADM or shenanigans.)

Was going to order a '24 but when I saw rates at 7.7%, that was a big fat NOPE. Have to draw the line as a consumer SOMEWHERE. Not paying 7.7% for a truck - that's worse than a home finance loan.

LOL, you haven't experienced truly HIGH interest rates like some of us have in our lives....
