Flex Bed question

Can someone tell me, if you put 2x4s across the bed to create a two tiered cargo space, how much room (height) is there under the 2x4s? In other words, what is the height of the bottom of the cutouts in the bed?

Also, for anyone who has the Leer cap (the new, flush one) what is the interior height?
