I ordered the RoadMaster BasePlate and RoadMaster Nighthawk TowBar last Tuesday for my 2025 Lariat AWD Hybrid it‘s supposed to ship on March 21, 2025

I currently have BlueOx equipment that I tow my 2004 Jeep Wrangler TJ with and it’s been flawless but after the recent issues BlueOx has had I decided to try the RoadMaster since they recently figured it out although I was hoping Demco was going to be available sooner but they haven’t gotten there yet

I haven’t decided on a braking system yet so many options

I installed a 12volt plug installing it to the fuse box on the passenger side. There is a UTUBE video on this.

Hi All, I've read many, many posts and having a hard time seeing anything definitive regarding brake light wiring, specifically if the Maverick needs a brake light relay kit in addition to diode kit?

According to Etrailer and Roadmaster, the relay kit is needed to prevent motorhome signal for brakes from over riding toad blinkers as they would go solid when there is brake signal?

All these etrailer and youtube videos show diode kit installs but this is concern is never mentioned.

Any help is appreciated, and hopefully with help folks that come back to this thread also.

Since the Maverick’s brake lights can be activated when the vehicle is off and the brake pedal is depressed, yes you need a brake relay kit. The idea of the relay kit is to completely isolate the brake light signals from the truck from those of the RV so that when hooked up to the RV, the RV completely controls all signal lighting of the Maverick. You do not want the Maverick sending some signals and the RV sending signals as you can have issues with them playing nice together. You want only one vehicle doing the signal control at one time.

I plan on setting up the relay so that it disconnects the Maverick brake light signals (via a relay) when the RV’s 12v charge line is activated. This will be my trigger to the relay. When the Maverick is plugged into the RV, the RV is the sole source of signals (brake, turns, running). You can press the Maverick’s brakes and the brake lights will not illuminate. Only when the RV brakes are applied will the Maverick’s brake lights illuminate. (Regardless of the brake pedal position in the Maverick.) When unplugged, the Maverick’s OEM signaling is used and operates normally.

Hope that helps.
