You can use any mode based on conditions and your preferences.

I use tow mode but not exclusively.
You probably will NOT want tow mode in stop n go traffic, parking lots, or campgrounds for example.

Funny how you say stop n go traffic because that's specifically where I had my issue. I got fuel and forgot to put it back into tow mode. Going through town ate up my battery and the first hill out of town was after a stop light I didn't have enough acceleration because of the dead battery and held everyone up while I just had to listen to the engine scream doing nearly nothing.

The condition is towing and the preference is the ability to drive at a useful pace.

I hope OP is using tow mode exclusively. Running low on battery while towing is a painful experience.

So far I've kept the truck clean. Lol

I may very well add some blue to the camper.

Ok....so first time out in the Maverick. We didn't go real far for the first trip.

I got a stated 22.4 mpg. I know it likely wasn't quite that high but still. Camper as it sits is likely 2400 lbs or so.

I averaged around 65 mph. Ran it up to 70 to just get the feel. Coming from a Honda Ridgeline it did feel smaller but quickly felt fine.

Nice setup, I just ordered a new Casita 17 foot Spirit Deluxe. How was it going uphill, any problems.

No. I tow something larger.
No problems at 65 MPH on flat.
40 MPH in the truck lane on steep mountain grades in Western U.S.

I agree strongly.

In a hybrid, tow at any safe speed that keeps the power gauge 50% or under.

Don't use cruise control on hills.
Keep your foot wherever it keeps the power at 50% and let your speed bleed off on long hills. For short ones you can exceed 50% for 1 minute at a time, or to pass.

Nice setup, I just ordered a new Casita 17 foot Spirit Deluxe. How was it going uphill, any problems.

We didn't have any large mountains or anything. I did a lot of reading and watching videos before buying the Maverick.

On the interstate I had to watch to keep it at 65 mph. Mine is a 16 foot but you should have zero issues even with a 17 foot.

Simply because they were not much money I did get mirror extensions. I'll just note that at least on a Casita they are not needed. For anyone else, they did stay in place and were solid as far as using them.

This isn't a huge campground but there is another light blue Maverick. XLT. It does have a tow package but no hitch at the moment so I don't know if he pulled that trailer or not.

That trailer looks a bit heavy for the Maverick. so most likely didn't tow it . . . especially without a hitch!

The MPG calculator on my 2026 Maverick Hybrid seems to less than 5 miles off, per tank. I'd say 22 mpg is a pretty close reading. That's a great setup. I'm retired and thinking of getting that exact trailer and hitting the road with my trusty Chocolate Lab ...but wehaven'tt figured out to ditch my wife yet...
