I am certainly impressed . In fact, this trip was close to what my wife's Toyota hybrid suv does on a similar trip as this trip is mostly highway. Of course, her hybrid suv crushes the gas Maverick in the city. Much of this trip is highway, with about 5 miles of "city" on the front and back ends. And the truck was full, 2 adults and 2 kids. THus far in the first few weeks this has been one amazing little truck! Earlier in the week it was used as a truck hauling a ping pong table and it fit (to the amazement of my big truck neighbors!) Below is the return trip back. My trip down was similar at 32.8 mpg with the biggest difference being some traffic in the Philly region.

Yup they missed the mark on the EPA MPG ratings. I have been getting in the low 30s since i got mine over 2 years ago. Enjoy it. I will be upgrading mine in a couple years. I would like to see a ST or Raptor myself even though I know the MPG would suffer I think it would still be pretty decent.

Just goes to show that you don't need a Hybrid to get good fuel economy. I've been very impressed with how efficient my Ecoboost AWD has been. The highest I got it to was 38 mpg. City driving is where its weakness is as I only average 24-25 mpg which could be better. Especially since I'm not a lead foot and only drive to and from work eight minutes each way. But that's probably the reason why. The constant acceleration/deceleration using more fuel in between. But it does shine on the highway. Same goes for our Bronco Sport. We took it on a road trip from Florida to Connecticut and back and averaged around the same, 33-34 mpg. They're both more efficient than my former Honda Civic 1.5L or Toyota RAV4 2.0L.

This reflects my experience with the ECo 2.0. I've gone on several road trips 4000+ miles and never averaged less that 32 mpg including a couple of 500+ miles between fillups. Couldn't be happier with my Maverick.

As a side not about the most recent trip from Phoenix to Ohio for what turned out to be a funeral for a relative. I got in the truck at 4:30 am to take my wife to the airport (it was her sister in the hospital) after which I was going to leave, driving to Ohio since we didn't know at the time what the outcome would be. Well, the truck wouldn't start. Used the '06 Grand Prix to take her to the airport then back to figure out what was going on with the Maverick. I had never had a vehicle behave as it did due to a bad battery, but eventually figured it out, jump started it and went on my way. I drove 700 miles without shutting it off until I stopped overnite at a hotel in Amarillo, thinking there would be enough charge to start in the morning. Nope. But...I called the Ford roadside assistance # and had someone out to jump it in about 45 minutes. This is at around 5 am. In the meantime I called ahead to a Ford dealer near Oklahoma City and was able to stop there to have it looked at. It took a little time because they didn't have the battery on had but eventually got it replaced and was on my way again.
No issues since, but one of the clues in retrospect was that Auto Stop-Start had quit working. It works pretty consistently now with the new battery.
Bottom line, despite the inconvenience, I was pleased with the response from both Ford customer service and the Diffee Ford along I-40 to Oklahoma City.

I have a 2.0 eco with AWD,1300 miles, mostly city and get less than 22-no leadfoot--should be better?? Am I missing some adjustment for mileage?? Is AWD that bad? Jim

I have an FX4 with Nitto Nomad Grappler AT tires that the dealer installed before I picked up my new Maverick. I do not baby it and have averaged over 29 MPG for the past 4,000 miles. Very happy with the MPGs.

Do you drive on the Eco setting? I do for the most part. That could be the difference.

I have a 2023 Lariat 2L 4K AWD with 7K on it. Local travel I get around 27-28 in Eco mode. Highway at stready 65 for a long trip I have seen 33 but that is rare. 27-29-31 is about what I expect and if you run it hard it will drop lower. Sport mode wil eat it up. Eco really provides me with more than enough power but 4K towing has a lower gear ratio too compared to 2K towing AWD.
