Got back from a 750 mile round trip with the Marverick.

I attended the funeral of my late brother Jerry's oldest son. A sad day but the community showed up in droves at the church and cemetery to pay their respects.

Rodney was a Vietnam veteran who had long term health issues after exposure to Agent Orange.

Back to my trip...

Overall impressions of the truck are I'm getting used to it. Still fiddling with the technology but I like the handsfree phone, the stereo sounds good to my ancient ears and I'm getting comfortable with the seat.

Fuel economy...

Headed south to Illinois I was running between 75-80 on the interstate... 25.5 mpg was about normal.

Put a few hundred on while running between the motels and the services for a day.

I got behind schedule when the funeral procession to the cemetary left the church while I was relieving myself in the hopelessly poorly designed bathroom in the church basement.

I had to run 93mph on a narrow country road to catch up! Almost passed the county sheriff that was escorting the procession!

Anywho...

The trip home was good... I-39 traffic was cruising at 85+. With the truck set at " slippery" I got 25.7 mpg @ 75 mph.

With it set @ "normal" I got 25.5 @ 85-88 mph.

Personally I think the engine is running more efficiently at the higher rpm.

I got many compliments on the truck especially the color. No big deal. I'm not a fashion-neesta.

Now it's time for fresh oil and filter.

Thanks for sharing the trip summary. I remember the days when Wisconsin state troopers would pull over 59 mph with the 55 mph national speed limit. Now it seems they are much more lenient.

They now say...Up to nine you're fine...over nine you're mine!

A few weeks ago I was driving one of our fleet trucks hauling corn to an ethanol plant.

There was a Wisconsin trooper holding up traffic running 70 on the interstate. I was @ 74 and cruised right on by him...everyone else followed suit.

50 years ago my friend Louie told me if you want to speed do it on Monday as many cops are in traffic court all morning.

I drive past our county courthouse on Mondays and there are over a dozen state, county and local gendarmes parked there...
