Looking into replacement tires for the 2025 Lariat with 4k tow - the tire load rating is 103T so be careful to check the tires you're looking at!

The popular Fallen Wildpeaks in OEM 225/55-19 size are only rated 99V

Sounds like you're trying to "muscle up" your Hybrid with an all-terrain tire, should have got a XLT w/FX4, or a Tremor, both of which would have come with 17" wheels. Or sell the 19's and get a wheel that gives you more choices.

Okay?

That is well within spec for the payload capacity of the Maverick. And I doubt you’ll be hitting 149mph in your Mav!
exactly.

searching, I see that load rating 99 is 1709lb per tire. 1709x4 = 6836, yet the max gvwr of any maverick trim is 5386. that's quite a lot of safe overhead.

However, maximum load is at maximum cold sidewall psi. If it's a 60 psi tire, and vehicle manufacturers have specified a lowish 32 PSI, then it won't actually cope with full load by a lot. Ditto for the speed rating, flexing sidewalls put more heat in it, so having it "a ways" from tire sidewall PSI drops the failure speed a bit too.

I don't necessarily disagree w/the use of 103-load rating tires on a 4K-equipped truck, they should have stiffer sidewalls and minimize squirm when towing. But again, he bought a non-FX4/Tremor truck, meant to be a pavement princess. Plenty of on-road tire options available in 103/19".

Yeah my pavement princess won't even get driven! I'll just leave it parked in the garage 🙄 ...

Actually I intend to tow full capacity, and the tire sticker inside the driver's door jamb specifies 103T ...

I understand the general best practice of not reducing load rating on tires, but when you do the math the difference total load bearing is not that great, and it's nowhere near overloaded if you were to have max payload... which is way more weight on the tires than max towing by itself. (1500 pounds in the bed vs 400 on the tongue.)

there's a guy in another thread in this subforum who has a set of wheels load rated to 1360 pounds. let's all go freak out on that thread a little while, and then come back to earth on the significance of this load 99. :ROFLMAO:

but to HRG's point, will the higher load rated tires drive better heavily loaded? maybe. and will they wear better? probably, because quick tire wear is a frequent complaint about this specific tire, the wildpeak at trail.

There are actually (2) versions of the Trail, in the 235/65R-17 Tremor size. Look at the large UTQG difference between the 104 and 108 versions, plus the 104 is not 3-Peak rated.
