F50 wish I took a picture

Anyone proficient at working with Chinese suppliers? Should be a satisfactory cash grab to make F50 merch,

I want a set of these in chrome to match the OEM unit: F-050 lariat.

I’d be willing to shell out the $200 that the Ford shop wants for the air dynamics side markers.

Ford uses increments of 50. And the F100 was already taken by the 1960’s 1/4 ton pickup. The next step down would be the F-50, which is why everyone flocked around that number.

I realize that, but the original F150 had a payload of 1500 lbs. the Maverick has a payload of 1400 lbs—thus F140.

Shouldn't the maverick be F75 which is half 150 . my f150 got 10-12 mpg and Mav gets 23-24 mpg . so gets twice the mpg at half the price .

I think this (F140) makes the most sense for most of the Mavs as well.

I get that F50 is a joke, more than making any rational correlation to payload capacity.
My Lobo would align towards the F100 designation using Fords naming scheme. F150 = 1/2, F250 = 3/4, F350 = 1 ton

I've always known the K1500, K2500, K3500 (Chevy 4wd pickups) as 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, 1 ton.

Not sure why it matters if F100 was used before, for something else, when its only purpose is to provide an idea of payload capacity.
The Maverick name also comes from an old car, that has no relevance to the current Maverick.

Sorta how Ford did the same with the "Mustang Mach E". Makes no sense at all to apply Mustang to that electric SUV. Especially while they still are producing the Mustang car!

I agree with "do what you want."

I did it because I thought it looked cool and filled a space that looked empty. It's in theme with other Ford trucks and you know what? I get compliments all the time. Believe it or not, most people that aren't Maverick fanboys think the F50 makes perfect sense. Regardless, I like it, as do all of my friends and family, and that's all that matters to me.

Edit: I'd also like to point out that most people assume the F50 badging is a real thing and it came from the factory that way. I always have to clarify that it is a custom badge that I added.

What about FU-50?

Hmmm....I think I prefer (this is for myself, you do you!) to elicit friendly smiles and waves from others, rather then questioning glances or possibly negative grimaces.

Especially as I quite frequently stop to help others, I wouldn't want others to interpret my Mav's personally-added adornments (which I see as an extension of my quirky personality) in a negative way.

It’s just a coincidence that the 1975 F-150 payload was 1,500 lbs.

The payload of the 1953 F-100 was 1,530 lbs.

The payload of the 1953 F250 was 3092 lbs.

And the first F-350 had a payload of 2,936 lbs. the payload of the 1953 F-350 is lower than the F-250 because it had the same running gear, but was a longer wheelbase to handle bulkier loads.

So, I’ll say it again, F140 doesn’t make sense, in light of Ford’s historical naming system for the F series pickups.
